    This happened close to where I live. While there is a mountain lion season in SD they reached their quota back in November. There is no way she is going to get the carcass back, and she will be lucky if she isn't charged with something (not that I think she should be). Fortunately, the G&F here are pretty reasonable in cases like this.

    I recall there was a famous gunwriter (who's name escapes me) years ago that was on a quest to prove that every kind of big game on earth could be killed w/the .22LR.
    I don't know how far he got, but he did kill some. Seems like he had killed a Water Buffalo in the pic w/the article.

    I have to say, I find this to be a particularly offensive argument. This isn't "proof" of anything, its coc*smanship, "look how great *I* am".

    Slaughterhouses routinely kill large food animals (eg bulls) with a .22, so nobody needs to go out in the wild to "prove" it can be done.

    Of course is CAN be done. . .doesn't mean it SHOULD be done!

    Every animal on the face of the earth can also be killed with a pocketknife. Is this clown going to go try that too? If he want to go "prove" something, how about finding out what the largest animal he can kill with his bare hands? [:p]



    Also, clearly I don't want to get on Granny's bad side, but I think we've overlooked a key point here:

    Don't think anyone's arguing in favor of taking game with .22s - Just remarking on the old gal having the presence of mind and wherewithal to act. She's 80 years old and just got her 15 minutes of fame [:)]
