Going to my first gun show
In WA that is. I moved from Kommiefornia back in May and have really found a state that is more gun owner/hunter friendly. I'm hoping the gun shows are better than the CA ones as they have become nothing more than flea markets for airsoft guns,toys, jewelery, and a bunch of other junk. The firearm prices were so crazy out of sight that you would see the same gun over and over at shows. Ammo prices weren't too bad so that was the only reason to go. Some CA towns/counties had outright banned and or were trying to ban gun shows all together, don't know if that has been overturned but it sure is sad.

Have fun. Be aware that some sellers there will show there prices marked down over $100. Do the research on prices for what you are looking for before going. Those mark downs are after they marked them up and the "sale" price is usually barely a fair price at all.
I have found that the gun show is a great place to try on guns you thought you might like and to get a good look a the quality. It's also a good place to sell and trade.0 -
The WAC shows are still really good.
I would recomend becoming a WAC member and then you get your admission fee refunded and the rest of the year the shows are free. Not to mention the gun news magazine.[^]
This weekend is the Ruger collectors month at the show so there will be several collectable Rugers to look at.0 -

Is this the Puyallup show? I've been there before and you have to be a member to purchase a firearm there. Good show to look, but not buy unless you want to buy a membership as well. Most other club shows are pretty good with no restrictions on buying as long as you are a state resident. WWAC and ACSWW come to mind.0 -
Yes, the Puyallup show.
WAC has 2 shows a month, 1 in Puyallup and the other in Monroe.
It only costs 30.00? to become a member and good for the year
You have to pay 8.00 to get in anyways so to become a member is only actually 22.00.0 -
There will be one in Portland Oregon next Weekend.
Been told by several dealers that if I wanted to buy somethin that is the one to go to.
We have on every month here in Eugene Oregon but prices are marked up. the problem is we only have one real gun dealer in the area nad he marks his prices way up. So when a gunshow comes to town they do not have to drop their prices to be competitive.
But in Portland there are several places that sell at a discount price. So the shows have to be competitive with them.0 -

the one in portland sucks 7-8 for parking 8-10 to get in they keep upping the price most of the guns are over priced.alltho you might find something at Keith's tables and perhaps some half way good ammo prices.0 -
I agree with Moonshine, the Portland show does suck. But....I will probably go anyway. Doesn't cost much more than a movie and snacks. Kieth's does have great prices, but than if you are a Washington resident you have to pay a transfer fee and tax to most Local FFL dealers. 0 -

There is a large local gun store here, always has 10-20 long tables in the center of everything. Jacks his price way up or they may be his normal price but after looking at some things he had for sell, I dont even waste my time going to his store now days.
I.E.: you can get a KEL TEC PF9 OR P11 just about anywhere in town
(if they have one its a hot selling gun here)
for around $239-289. This store treys to get $529 [:0]for the same thing.saw this at 2 different gun shows they were at.
IM sure he has sold some at that price. quick profit but when the buyer finds out they were ripped off, well i wouldn't go back if it were me.0 -

It was AWESOME! What a difference compared to the CA shows. I did become a WAC member since I only live 3 miles from the show and it basically paid for my entry into the Puyallup and Monroe shows for the year-and it allows you to bring your family in for free to-I thought that was not a bad deal. The Ruger display was incredible to say the least-it took up a full wall that was about the distance of 3 telephone poles. I saved the best for last--I found a gun to BUY lol There was a dealer there selling all kinds of used guns and he was selling them at really great prices. I was looking for a shotgun for my fiance and saw a really nice older Stevens 77F with a 20 1/2" barrel on it for $169. The dealer discounted it by 30% and I had my instant background check done and was the happy owner. I know Stevens is no collectible shotgun, but I was looking for a nice small house/camping/jeep gun that both my girl and I could enjoy. I also had about 15 people including dealers trying to buy it off of me as I walked the rest of the show--they had the same idea as me-a neat little home gun. I bought some bird shot and buckshot and went home happy. Needless to say it fit my girl to a T and it holds 5 shells in the magazine so it will be a nice little house gun. It looks like it was a youth model to me. The only thing I may do to it is have a better recoil pad put on. If I would have had my CCW I could also buy handguns and take them home on the same day as well-so I need to hurry up and get that as there were some great deals on handguns as well. This show was about 85% guns and related items. The other 15% had the toys and clothing but I was quite happy. The only weird thing to me was having to by a membership to purchase firearms but I guess they do that to help pay for the rent and to keep riff raff from buying guns there as they do a background check which you have to pass-took about 10 minutes. Maybe it also insures that more gun dealers will show up knowing there are people who can actually take possesion? Here is a pic of the shotgun(camera phone sorry)

Ok some questions on Washington.
Will the price at the show be that much lower that once your state tax is added in they are still lower.
Picking up handguns you have a waiting period in Washington. Will a Oregon CCW be usefull or not.
To join WAC do you have to be a Washington resident.0 -
well the original price was $168 and then he lowered it by 30% so it came out to $118 and then WA has a 8.9% tax so it was $129 out the door. I was happy because back in CA they also had a DOJ admin fee of about $25 tacked on to every sale--PLUS you had to buy a CA approved gun lock-even if the manufacturer supplied one with the gun! The only way around buying the lock was if you had a again please laugh here--a CA approved gun safe and either a bill of sale proving you owned it or a written affidavit--no please laugh all you like [:D] As far as an OR CCW I don't know--I do know if I had a WA CCW that you can buy and take home your handgun on the same day-otherwise it was a 5 day. I've gone to 1 Gun Show. It was in Mesa,Arizona. It cost about 12 bucks to get in and I didn't buy a damn thing. I had already shopped around town and figured I'd wait for the big "Show" before purchasing. My Son and I went with great anticipation and found disappointment. The prices were much higher for the very same items I had just shopped for! Someone has already mentioned in this thread that Gun shows are great places to go look at the various offerings. But at $12, My money will be better spent on gas driving to the dozen or more gun "Shops" in my area! Collectively they are better stocked than a gun show and are much easier to find if there is a problem. 0 -
Gun shows hardly ever have any good deals. There is plenty of good deals with the people that bring a firearm to trade. Some states frown on this, but it's OK in Florida! 0
