on new 1 dollar coin! What the hell is up with that? Did they ask OBAMA what he wanted, before they minted them?

it is on the new presidential dollar coins. It is inscribed on the edge of the coin along with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the year and Mint ID.
I had to look at a couple in my drawer for that.0 -
look around the edge, it should be there. if not hang onto your coin it may be worth something 0 -

You do realize that that phrase was added fairly recently, like the 1940s or 1950s. Sort of like "under God" added to the pledge of allegiance in the 1950s. 0 -
Its cheap money, so whats the big deal what it says on it? Will it buy you a loaf of bread, nope, it takes three of them. If all it said on it was 'One Dollar" and nothing else so what? It was 1938 when In God We Trust was put on the coins and not untill 1957 that it was included on paper money. Did it make a difference in the value.. NO!

Thats because the entire reverse symbolizes liberty, so no need to put the actual words. As for the "In God" part, its getting put on the front of back when 2009 rolls around. 0 -
To better cater for all the diverse religions in this country, perhaps changing the words to "In Gods we trust" would be more appropriate. 0 -

Yes I know why the design was approved without the written word. Its just funny that of things that are (at least I thought) required by law to be on new coins, one got replaced by a symbol, and another got moved to the edge [:D][:D][:D]0 -
