Pipeline work is why I'll be there, I will be there till mid summer and yeah I was there last winter; I know now to bring thermal underwear and -120 boots...

Fishkiller, there is ALOT of work in the construction fields here in Wyoming, if you are a carpenter, electrician, plumber or roofer, you will never be out of work! 0 -
Union? In the oil Patch? you have got to be kidding me....
I have been on oilfield jobs for 20+ years, including, TX, NM, CA, UT, CO, WY, MT, ND, LA, AL, MS, OK, SD, OH, IN, KY and OCS-GOM and I have NEVER seen anyone have to present a union card to be allowed to work on a location. Who are you working for that requires the card - inquiring minds want to know? Must be a plant job of some kind?...0 -

trust me, I know all about the oil fields in texas... we have many ratty meanies from texas in our local. We are the largest pipeline local in the world, If new mexico needs to be connected to maine they arent gonna call up texas, they will call 798. Local 597 has had to use us in their jurisdiction in wisconsin because they didnt have enough manpower. I have never worked around a pipeline job, or station job , or pump job or take up and relay that has not been union.
I do not dislike texans, I used to but knowing that Ron Paul is a texan makes me think that some of the best people are nation have to offer are from texas, too.
Most gas companys will NOT hire a rat contractor, just for safety reasons alone.

no, I got there right after that spread was done I was in Laramie, WY and it is awesome out there. I don't know for sure I would want to live out there unless I could get some fiber optic line to my house, on second thought that wouldn't matter either. It is far too cold there in the winter time for me, but being glutton for punishment I chose rock springs, wy over balmer or balma texas the pay is a couple of bucks higher in WY but that isnt why I chose WY. As i suspected - all downstream work. Not hard to guess what you think of non-union workers.... and Texas... and Texans.... Of course you are entitled to your opinion.
You do understand that the stuff you are building wouldn't be needed if it weren't for the upstream side and all their non-union "meanies" in the E&P service companies?0 -

I have worked with a couple of non union welders that just got in to our local, they are trash! They are trash to their help and they usually cant weld their undies to their bottem... I do not wish to knock texas, like I said some damn fine people from there I have even met a few, and nunn don't seem too bad either
I worked with this one welder from texas, I forget his name now this was about 6 years ago, he built a huge smoker out of pipe that was a gun. He leased it to some rap star for his music video and I guess it got stolen or something, but man I just wish I had a picture.... He called the grill "Smoking Gun" I believe, and it was awesome!
Regardless if you like the union or not, you would not have the rights you do as an employee without them. I have never been to texas, and never plan to go UNLESS I am asked by texas to help repel the invasion on their border against a hostile foreign government; Not until that time will I go to texas.0 -

You know to get off I-29 at exit 10 and cut over to I-80 on Hwy 2 don't you? It'll save you over 100 miles over driving up to Omaha.
Another good route is to stay on I-70 to Hays Ks. and take Hwy 183N to I-80 at Elm Creek Neb.
If you look at I-80 in Neb., it take soutwest loop about mid state. Then goes back Northwest. Hwy 183 intersects 80 at the southern most point and will save you miles also.
