Welcome to our deer camp,this 30x30 poured concrete wall cabin sits in the middle of 710ac in one parcel thats owned by one of my best friends,He lets me and another friend have free run of his property and the cabin,last sat,we made deer sausage there out of 2 muzzleloader season deer and ended up with about 45lbs of the best eatin venison/sausage I have ever eatin...enjoy..we do!..[:D]..Loko

commanche/thats the name of the truck I built several yrs ago to fetch wood/deer with..full size K-5 blazer frame with a 78 pickup cab and homemade bed..she's a beast..250ci 6cyl.4sp..[:D]

biggest buck killed there this yr..lots of mass at the bases..not much on brow tines..owner of the property killed this during shotgun season..field dressed at 245lb big body buck..

    I honestly believe that I have saw your "commanche" truck in the Pt. Pleasant area. If it was not yers it was a good clone.

    Allen can't say I have read that book,..but I will look in to it..the owner has his own poured wall business,..among others,..this cabin burnt to the ground/arson by two retards who got the justice they deserved..hint no jail..backwoods justice..they needed lots of dental work and stitches,they got caught after bragging too much almost a yr later,and the fact that one was a juvinile at the time,he sooned turned 18..[}:)]..it never hurt the walls or the floor so we just rebuilt the roof/insides with handme down furniture and such,one of my friends is a 798 welder and he fabricated the big steel shutters over the windows which lock from the inside and we have locks and steel plate doors that you couldn't get in with out a torch,..just keeping the honest ..honest..Loko

    Is that not what deer camp is all about? Good times with good friends, making memories that last a life time. We eat well too at my place in the Adirondacks of NY. one of our fav dinners is north Country surf and turf...fresh backstraps, and walleye's or native Brook Trout. Breakfase is sausage gravy-n-biscuits with of course venison sausage, and cajun homefries! Give me a shout, and I will let you know when the seasons start out here! We can use rifles too!!!! Shotguns for deer? i was not aware a shotgun could shoot far enough to hurt a deer...hehehehehe.

    yep, thats exactly what deer camp is about Tim,..walleyes or native brookies..yum..we usally have a fish fry also with tuna/maui maui/grouper etc,..what ever we have caught that yr at the Outer Banks,NC..the owner goes down there also and has connections to a big fishing boat we have gone out on yearly,..we could have bass and bluegills/catfish though...shotguns..right..[:D]..438gr federal slugs cartwheel small deer..[}:)]..Loko

    i have been doing that ever since my dad taught me how to hunt.i could never sit in one place for more than 1 hour then i would have to move. still going to therapy 3 days a week, but that is about to come to a stop. i can go down stairs now with no problem.still have swelling and limited movement. the therapist tells me the movement is there i just have to wait for the swelling to go down



    PS i wasn't looking for a free hunt

    It is the true story of the settling of the southern Ohio frontier. Once you start reading it you can't put it down.
    It features a little known frontiersman named Simon Kenton. He was a giant 6-5 red haired pioneer who was instrumental in the settling of Ohio. He once saved Daniel Boone's life.
    There were unbelievable, savage battles between the whites and Shawnee right in the area where your deer camp is. The author gives modern day references to the historic sites in the book so a guy like you who lives up there would readily identify many of the places.
    Somebody mentioned Point Pleasant, this site was named by Simon Kenton.
    Most of the pioneers would come down the Ohio River in keelboats or canoes. The Shawnee would have a captured white boy, and they would have him stand on the north shore of the river. As the keelboat came by, 100 yards away, the white boy would yell at them to come rescue him. If the settlers pulled in to shore, the Shawnee would make them live to regret this decision.
    Meanwhile a dozen Shawnee flintlocks were aimed at the back of the Shawnee's captive. Had the poor guy not cooperated, he would have been lucky to catch a few musket balls in the back.
    Alan Eckert makes it clear in The Frontiersmen, a white boy did NOT want to be captured by the Shawnee.

    thats good to hear that you are healing well,.Dec is a long time off so..usally the first two days we sit,..and then we have to get em up and moving,..busting the brush and thickets out..we have it down to a science here..[;)]we always have drivers and shooters/standers though and change up so every one gets a chance at both,..I'm not in the best health anyway so I do what I can and nobody here expects miracles from anybody,..Loko..I will holler at you when I talk it over with Rick [owner]

    Allen,.yep I know quite a bit about Chief Cornstalk/shawnees,.and the mingo warriors that lived here then, this is where the Kanahwa river meets the Ohio river hence TU ENDIE WEI...google tu endie wei state park..[;)].I used to hunt Indian artifacts which are still plentiful in the fields around the rivers here..Loko

    I usually try to sneak up early on Friday, and run over to the river, and catch a bunch of walleyes for saturday's dinner, in the early season. We start in the Northern zone this year on the 11th of October for muzzle loader, and the next week starts regular season. Regular season runs untill December 7th. long season up there.

    wow, that is a long season,..we get 7 days..[V] of shotgun and the last couple of yrs one more weekend [SAT/SUN] and then after christmas, 4 days of muzzleloader..bow season comes in Oct 4th and last till end of Jan,..our full rut hits around the 15th of Nov. here depending on cold spells and weather temps..your place sounds great Tim,..we can't eat fish from the Ohio river or our biggest creek Racoon creek..too contaminated,[xx(]..but farm ponds, lakes [few/small] are still good eatin,..Loko

    My buddys family just bought a weekend get away cabin just outside of McArthur. Supposedly it borders a large state park.[8D] I've not been there yet but I'm sure I will be soon.[^]

    Supposedly the cabin is "just off of Rt 93 outside of McArther".

    The family stompin' grounds is in Bainbridge just between Rt 50 and Pike Lake. Well have to sync up sometime when I'm not living in airplanes and hotels![:D]
