God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't
need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out
of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning'."
"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.
"Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the
likeness of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man."
"Well, that's interesting ... show Me."
So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.
"No, no, no..." interrupts God, "Get your own dirt."[:)]

Edit2: I was angry when i wrote the above post, i was angry, scared and confused about my whole life. Im going to leave it up there because the posts after it need the above to make any sense. I beleive this to be a turning point in my life. I can either be angry at the world, and let it eat me alive, or accept that there was a reason for this, which to me is unknown.
Also, some of you guys have restored my faith in humanity. I got a couple e-mails from people on here who dont know me, have never met me, and have no reason to even care one bit about me. But still they wrote, with genuine condolences, offering me theyre time and ear to be a sounding board. Amazing. There are some fine upstanding decent people here. Thanks to all of you. Dave.0 -

I have lost family members too, and it is not easy, but the feelings you have right now, will do nothing but help to destroy you,.........regardless of your previous beliefs.

Sorry to hear of your uncle's cancer.
I'm not a believer either.
But I respect those who are.
What you plan to do will do nothing to help your uncle.
And do you think he would be proud/happy about what you did?

i was just with him two months ago, everything was fine, you know when i was little we would all meet at my grondmothers house for all the holidays. I havent been in two years, i wish i would have gone. Im really gonna miss him. last time i was there i learned so much about him. He came here from holland, lived as a resident alien for 10 years, 5 months ago he wanted to vote in this upcoming election and he became a naturalized citizen, he was soo proud! i was too. He knew all the candidates, he was liking fred thompson. He always kept a .25 in his bedroom draweer. 0 -

I lost my father to cancer (lung, liver, and brain) some 10 years ago. By the time he was diagnosed, he was given a time-line along with a treatment schedule. As your uncle has it in his brain, if there is anything you want to say to him or do with him, do it immediately as his mental state can change overnight.
Take your anger out after he passes. Bring to him now only your support, your strength, and your love.
I can offer you nothing but my own experiences during his 6 months of death, but if there is anything that I can do, do not hesitate to send me an email.

I'm sorry for your uncle and your family but God has nothing to do with it. We have a free will and things happen both good and bad. God is in our lives but doesn't control it. If people have good luck, it's not due to God's work any more than if they have bad luck. He doesn't always make things happen; sometimes, He simply allows them to happen. 0 -

I went through a phase where I blamed God for the loss of my grandparents when I was 14 to 15 years old.
I also lost uncles in my early 20's where you are.
All I am saying is hating anyone,......including God, will eat away at you with time.
It will make you cold, and unfeeling, and no one but you is hurt by that.

I am sincerely sorry for your uncles situation and your impending loss. I too am a non-believer, but I don't become a believer when I need someone to blame. Probably better if you also don't let your pain and anger become bitterness and resentment. Please find someone to talk with. 0 -
My Mom went out the same way. I was in my late 20's at the time, and it took me YEARS to get over it.A year before that my oldest brother died.
I have told very few people this, for fear of all the name-calling, and the ridicule i never wanted to face. But my oldest brother died from AIDS. Think that didn't piss me off? But still. I GOT OVER IT.
You WILL get past this too, and you will also realize, that it IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN, and keep happening for your entire life. ANd, you cannot go through your entire life, mad at the world. I know what you are feeling. and i know it stinks. Love him wile you still can, and as long as you never forget him, he will always exist, in some way.Best of luck to you Dave.

I am very sorry to hear about your uncle. It is a sad thing but it is a part of life. We do not live in a perfect world. Trying to blame Him for something going bad is just foolish.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news and it's obvious that you're in pain and feel a need to lash out. But don't you think perhaps you should engage your brain before making ludicrous statements on this or any forum?
How can you be hipocritical enough to blame your grandfathers cancer on a God you obviously don't believe in? Why not add Santa or the Tooth Fairy in your search for convienient scapegoats?0 -

I too am sorry for you and your family. As Spider said "...God has nothing to do with it. WE have free will..." God has no control over Free Will and Evil. It was the free will of the cement truck driver who admittedly ran a stop sign and killed my son in '05. The free will of nature to bring about cancer in my MIL and take her in '06. What God has to offer is Faith, Hope, and a Peaceful Afterlife. We may not all worship God but I and others still have caring and prayers for you. 0 -

+1. And even then there no assurance that life will be a rose garden. It just doesn't work that way.
It's kinda like this. Last weekend I went out to my truck and it wouldn't start. At that point I could've blamed God, or opened the hood to look for the problem.
Blaming God probably would'nt have gotten me very far, so I looked under the hood and found corroded battery connections.
Now did GOD corrode my connections, or was just the nature of batteries?
It was a PITA, but it could've been worse.
No one said life was easy. But when I think about it, I sure don't have any trouble finding people who have it far worse than me.
Do you live in a comfortable home? Well fed? You seem to have a computer, guns and many things you enjoy in life. It could be that God has looked after you more than you think.0 -

First I would like to give sorrow from the depths of my heart. You know, things happen in strange ways. You are losing a loved one but he will not suffer for years with pain and will be in a better place . I have lost all grandparents, all aunts and uncles but 1, a father and a brother. I have come to realize that the grieving that I have done is a selfish act that I will miss the good times with them and their company. But, infact, I have all the good times to relive and there are MANY. We all need to grieve be it by anger, sorrow, depression or how ever you choose and when that time is over it is time to rejoice for they are with the LORD and are waiting for my arrival. I would rather live as there is a heaven and find there isn't than to live as tho their is none and find out there is!

Dave, just read this and I wanted to say I was very sorry to hear about your Uncle,..the man upstairs is the only one who can truely help Dave,..I know that doesn't help your pain,..be with your Uncle,.and your family if possible,.be strong..for them ,they will need you,You know my email is accessible too,..feel free brother,..keep your head up, and feet planted,life is never fair,we have to make the best out of it always..trust me,..holler if I can help or just be a listener,....Loko 0
