tax filing
Anyone here trying to use the supposed "free e-filing"? Tried all afternoon yesterday to file my son's simple taxes yesterday (basic W-2, with no deductions) with Turbotax.com. They advertise free e-file prepreation and filing. I had already filed the state forms, simple matter, pull up IN dept of Revenue, get on their filing web site and punch in the numbers. All done, no cost.
However, I tried Turbotax plus a couple of others got all the way through and at the end of the session got a notice that the fee would be 14.95. What the???? tried again same thing. So much for free. Pulled up their question and answer window---3 pages of people complaining about the same thing. One person said you have to go through the official IRS web site and then go through turbotax before it's "officially free", tried that then my computer froze up.
Finally, I went to H&R Block's site where they tell you right up front what the policy is and then stick to their advertising.
All in all it was a very frustrating day[:(][:(!][xx(]

I filed mine through H & R Block free e-file. $29.95 for state though. Ain't bad all in all. $30 bucks and my taxes are done. 0 -
Somebody was telling me you couldn't file until 2/11??? Anyone know if this is true? Still waiting on my 5th W-2.[xx(][:(] 0 -
Did mine using Taxcut and it cost $19.95. Will be deposited into my account on the 12th of Feb. 0 -
Awww, your all a bunch of cheapo's . My taxes cost me $200 a year to do. Not cheap, but I have a good tax prep lady. 0 -

Never heard of this. A buddy of mine filed two weeks ago and already got his refund back. Gonna go do mine next week. Finnaly got my last W-2(fourth).0
