Pic of a mountain lion I saw today...

They are awesome animals. I could have gotten a lot better pics if I had been using a traditional camera. I cannot get used to trying to look for something on the display...not to mention that you cannot look at whatever it is you are trying to take a pic of when looking for it on the camera...and I don't like taking my eyes off a predator when it's less than 20 yards from me.

    No...I came around a corner in my truck and the lion looked like he was set up at an animal crossing trying to ambush some prey as they crossed the road. The snow is so deep here that the deer/elk/moose tend to stay on established trails. The lion went up an over the snow bank and I stopped the truck and climbed up over the bank to snap this pic. I could have had some real nice pics of him sitting there looking right at me if I had been using a traditional camera, but I could not find him with screen on the digital camera.

    I don't own any guns other than my carry gun...got rid of them all. They are just entirely too dangerous to have around the house.

    I know what you mean about having a hard time with the digital camera.
    I have a $1,500 Minolta slr outfit. I was a sniper with that damn camera, push the button and it went off immediately.
    With this damn digital camera there is a two second delay, plus you have to look at the screen.
    I believe that on the expensive digital cameras they fire right away.

    Nice picture. I'd be a little afraid to go hiking without a gun.
    We had 2 run over by cars, and one shot by police last summer
    in Omaha.

    I carry a gun 99.9% of the time I'm in the woods out here...Grizzly bears, Black bears, wolves, mountain lions, moose, etc...


    Edit...but come to think of it, my gun was in the truck this time...[^]

    It makes sense that we are seeing them more in Kansas, with the over abundance of tasty deer, that aren't used to that kind of predator.
