BOLO for light-skinned "black" men pitching on TV.
Has anyone else observed the proliferation of light-skinned "black" men being used to pitch goods and services on TV lately? Are "they" getting us ready for an Obama presidency or what? If you haven't noticed, be on the look out for same. One I saw earlier this evening could have played B.O. in a made-for-TV movie...and the product being sold had nothing to do with "politics."

As an aside/related topic: take a few weeks and watch the ads in your Sunday paper from chain stores like Shopko, Target, Walmart,
etc., etc. as well as any major catalogs and you'll notice that whenever there is a mixed race couple featured (on the increase) be it little kids modeling clothes or adults, the white half is invariably the female. This causes one to wonder if a.) the media overall has an agenda and/or b.) it simply reflects society and in either case why does this phenomenon exist. Do humans equate darkness with verility? And therefore white females are attracted to Blacks but males are not (unless the female has caucasian features like some black movie stars).
I would like to see serious acedemic discussion of this by anthropologic sociologists/psychologists/behaviorists. But, this will never happen as it would be labeled racist.0 -

As my mommy is pushing daisies I have nowhere to run, so I guess I am stuck here playing.
The origional directly suggested that "they" (and I am wondering which "they" they are) so I'll take a stab and guess that the "they" that you reference are the semi black Obama look alikes.
Are you positing the notion that advertising agencies are using the Obama look alikes now because we will soon be over run with "cafe au lait" colored people?
My guess is that the ad agencies are using light skinned black people to reach a wider demographic...and could care less who wins the election.0 -
