How do you kow what weight ammo to get for whatever twist barrel you get?

how about a 308 1 in12 twist semi-auto? 0 -
Note-The heaver the bullet the faster the twist. In my .223 I use a very fast 1 in 7" as opposed to a 1 in 12" over a given length. In other words a heavy bullet my not stabilize hope you understand.

I saw 1:9 twist would would handle 52-69gr ammo. Im looking for the right twist, that would have the most ammo available for it, if that makes sense.
It looks to me that a 1:9 twist would be optimal.0 -

1:9 perfect-[^]0 -
A 1:9 is perfect for most factory loads.
If you want to shoot bullets heavier than 62-65 gr, a tighter 1:8 or 1:7 twist is needed. Most 69 grainers should stabilize in a 9".
If you want to shoot ultralight varmint bullets, 40-45gr, the 1:12 or 1:14 would be optimal.0 -
thanks Franc! Ive been asking alot of questions because i am completely new to the AR game. Up until this, al i had was ak's shotguns, and handguns. Then i saw the light, and the end of the light, were 2 new DPMS lowers, then i snapped out of it and whipped out my debit card, and filled out the page of like 10 questions. lol. 0 -
I like the 1 in 7" for me out of my DPMS upper. 55gr's come out tack sharp.[:D] 0 -
