Anyone know about Ithaca shotgun's

I have heard that there was an ithaca shotgun, unsure of the model, that after you pulled the trigger all you had to do was keep pumping to keep firing. Anybody know anything about this?

    Model 37. Got a Featherlite in 20 ga. The wabbits don't stand a chance.[^]

    Is it all model 37's , the gun store was selling an old beat up one for about 140 bucks?

    Best pump ever made, in my humble opinion. The Model 17 Remington is the basis of the Ithaca. Bottom eject makes it ambidexterious.
    I believe it is a John Browning design. If it ain't too beat up, I'd buy it.

    They call that the "slam fire" feature, and it IS NOT present on all model 37s. This was an unintended feature. Ill check my model 37 book- I know it says when the "slam fire" types were produced, and when they "corrected" the problem.

    According to Walt Snyder, in his book "Ithaca 37 repeaters-the best gun going", the "slam fire" trigger was discontinued after 1975-except in some police models. According to the gbook, a gun manufactured befor 1975 would have a serial number less than 371453500

    Several types of old pump shotguns would fire if you held the trigger down while working the action, is that what you meant?

    It's due to the lack of a disconnector, and comes in handy if you have a lot of extra ammo you want to get rid of and aren't worried about actually hitting anything.
