    I am in no way disparijing this firearm, I'd love to own it and its a great caliber. However, as far as I know there are no whitetail deer,wild in California.EDIT; sorry I guess I was in a little world of my own. Its GB auction #313950142, sweet rifle, just odd to me

    What would posses someone to do this, boredom or stupidity? Could an agency request officers to mark a weapon? I have had long guns come through my shop with,names,ssn,etc scratched in them, but this is a first for me.[?]

    Can someone tell me why sellers don't list their shipping charges in the proper place so it will show up on my watch list. EVERY seller lists it down in the description so you have to search for it. PITA

    I have seen some marked similar when used as exibits in major crimes.
    However, this seems excessive, even for exibit markings.

    I'd guess the scribblin' owner was marking his property to aid in theft recovery. That looks like a California driver license number. Police crime prevention types are always telling people to get an engraver and carve their DL number on everything of value.
