Norton alternatives?

Decided to dump Norton and looking for a good alternative. Any suggestions?

    Kaspersky Antivirus 7.0. When you uninstall Norton, you'll need to go here,

    and run the removal tool to get it completely uninstalled.

    Kaspersky is good as others mentioned. AVG is also god if you're looking for a freebee. I personally use Panda; it provides excellent protection yet doesn't bog down my computer like others do.

    AVAST! by Alwil is free, updates itself, and is way better than Norton/Symantec.
    You'll also need a good anti-spyware like Spybot Search & Destroy if you surf at all.
    I had a problem with the AVG from the Stop Sign bunch; it pretty much had collected all my personal info and had it stored in an .exe file.
    Don't know why, but that just bothered me enough to uninstall it.

    Norton pissed me off for the last time this week. Had a browser hijacker the is couldn't even see. Downloaded the free AVG. It cleaned it right up so I unloaded Norten and bought the full blown version of AVG. 3 computers for 3 years for $90. I'll never go back to Norten.

    Trend Micro---PC-cillin Internet Security

    Includes anti-virus, spam filtering, firewall and anti-spyware. Have used it for the past 2 years and have been very pleased. No infections whatsoever. However, I also use FireFox browser which reduces the chance of infections that affect IE.

    May switch to Bit Defender this year. Rated very high in anti-virus comparison.

    i also dumped norton for Kaspersky
    so far so good, little getting use to.

    If you ever have to unload Panda-you might get a surprise.

    Norton Sucks, PC Tools should be PU Tools. AVG and Spybot Search and Distroy are good.

    One more vote for AVAST.

    It takes up less space than AVG - and runs as smooth.
    It's even free.


    I run AVAST antivirus and ZoneAlarm firewall.... both free and neither take up as much space or resources as Norton does.

    Widows One Care if you have a ton of memory....no Idea if you don't!!!
    Haven't had one single problem in two years....
    But you better have at least two gigs of memory....she's a hog

    Got rid of Norton and went with Avast. Ran Norton one last time before dumping it and it found nothing.

    Ran Avast as soon as I downloaded it and it came up with two viruses that Norton missed!

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
