    I don't care for USA mags. That same company has real SIG mags, new and used, for sale.

    USA mags have a poor rep for reliability. You might find some that work well, but most are very iffy.

    If you want to save a few bucks on mags, keep an eye out for Mec-Gar's. They're not marked as such, but this is the sub-contractor that manufactures all those SIG factory mags.

    You pay extra for that SIG-Sauer logo.

    DO NOT BUY THE USA MAGS. IF YOU CAN AFFORD A SIG, YOU CAN AFFORD TO BUY GOOD RELIABLE MAGAZINES. AFTERALL, YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON THEM SOMEDAY.

    Buy factory Sig mags or Mec-Gar mags (they make Sig factory mags). USA mags are junk and that is putting it nicely.

    Thanks for the advice. I doubt I'll be carrying the sig for personal protection (I have larger calibers than 9mm in that frame size) But it's a really PITA when your mags fail you during matches. Factory mags it is.

    What went wrong with your factory mags? Have you been maintaining them? SOP is that the mags are cleaned, inside and out, when the pistol is cleaned. Cleaned, not oiled. I wipe the mag down inside and out with a Tuf-Cloth. It lubes and provides rust protection without oil.

    I haven't had a failure with the sig mags yet (it only came with one). I've had failures with GI beretta mags. The parkerization didn't hold up to sand and heat very well. I ended up replacing my parkerized mags wtih blued civilian ones. Those worked better. So far i like my sig 228. I can use it in some military matches since it's the military issue M11.

    Txs is correct about MecGar. They make magazines for many of the major handgun manufacturers to put in their pistols as "factory" mags, including SIG.
