Holy cow!! UPS charges

I just shipped a handgun through UPS, and I did not get kissed![:0][:(!]. $75 to send a handgun Next Day Air Saver. When the hell are gun owners going to boycott UPS for this bullcrap? Where the hell is the NRA on this issue? Don't tell me the NRA has no say in this area. This is plain out sanctioned theft of honest people.

    agreed..thankfully my FFL ships for me for 10.00 cost him 7-8.00 $..check around..he ships USPS PRIORITY..work something out with an FFL..BTW..did you sell the VSSF 223?..Loko

    I have been boycotting UPS ever since they stated that I must pay extra because their own employees steal, and they won't stop them.

    Yep. A fellow decided he wanted it; however, he has not paid me yet but I think he will soon. I have other R700 coming on line soon, let me know if there is a specific gun you want.

    I think the problem is the without a licence you have to ship next day air which for anything heavier than a few sheets of paper is very expensive. I don't understand why it is right for an FFL can ship USPS or Regular package delivery and everyone else has to do overnight.

    FedEx has never asked questions or charged me out the wazoo for shipping anyhting...my rifle included. Haven't tried handguns yet...

    Why the rush for shipping guys? That's what jacks the price.
    USPS is your best bet even for priority. Ye sthey ship firearms. Priority is 2-3 days and they have a cheaper rate for 3-5 days. I just shipped 2 packages with 3-5 and they arrived in 4.

    I used to work for a company that handled 65% of UPS's lost freight. They are actually a very "anti gun" company. All firearms (and related) were destroyed, but all other freight was sold to the public as salvage freight.

    God I hate thieves... they steal our stuff and then we have to pay more to keep them in prison and off the freaking street...
    Honestly if one gets blowed away,,I was looking the other freaking way, Judge. But I'm sure I heard him shoot 1st!! ....

    Although I don't ship firearms, at my firm we have given up on the common carriers for shipping just about anything. When you look at the extra charges UPS tags onto each parcel: Fuel surcharges, rural delivery surcharge (if applicable), sky high air shippment costs and very high insurance rates, the goofy old Post Office does not look so bad any more.

    It would be good to see the NRA step-up and say that all NRA and other gun owners will use a preferred shipper if reasonable shipping rates were offered to them. This would mean, let's say, a company like FedEx or DHL would get all gun and all non-gun shipments to the exclusion of UPS. I believe this is the type of incentive that a carrier would go for. One of two things would happen, UPS could lose possible 20% of their shipping business to a FedEx or DHL, or they would offer reasonable rates to their customers. If what deputy dog said is true, then we do need to boycott UPS. There are other shippers available.

    I am completely dismayed and pisssed-off that first our government would sanction this kind of monopolistic/criminal behavior against it citizens, and secondly we as gun owners are so sublimely passive to let this type of prejudicial company policy continue. No other way to describe this but as government sanctioned/endorced criminal enterprise. Do this against a minority and UPS would be driven out of business and be fined millions and millions of dollars.

    You apparently DO have a FFL. But the point that Zebra was making is that if a NON FFL holder reads your post they might think that they can ship thru USPS. If they do so then they are committing a felony. We are sure that you know the law but,

    To all NON FFL holders: You Cannot ship a handgun thru USPS. Only liscensed FFL dealers may ship a handgun thru USPS. A non dealer must ship via a contract carrier (Fedex, UPS, etc..) The carriers all have their own policies about handguns, like shipping overnight express, etc., etc..

    This is exactly what my local UPS driver told me. He said that they have gang members working in the hubs and firearms would be quick to disappear if they were sent by regular service...thus being in the hubs longer.
