Lawyers - Could you sue for damage?

Scenario: I am watching debates on TV - let's say the Democratic Debates. I get so pissed off that I throw a shoe at the TV and make a lucky shot as it blows right through the picture tube (or detroys the LCD display, etc).

Can I succesfully argue that the stupidity of the candidates caused that and they are responsible to cover my new TV? Would a lawyer take that case on contingency?

Maybe this is the gov't REAL plan to get rid of all the old TVs so that people have to buy the new HD tvs!

    I do not believe you would have a case. If the argument was that you were watching the Democratic debates, then the counter argument would be you weren't in your right mind at the time you intentionally tuned them in, therefore the resulting damage would be based on your stupidity, not the stupidity of the debating candidates. Next case! [:D]

    Absolutely you would have a case, and a pretty good one at that. Only problem is you will need to find someone with ACLU experience to get the paperwork filed.[8D] Everything is somebody else's fault.

    Yes you would have a good case, if you are talking about that inane Dem debate last night. Not only would Barack and Hillary have to buy your tv, they would have to compensate you for pain and suffering, many thousands of dollars.

    The cable company or satellite folk along with the networks have the $$$$$$$$$$. Totally their fault for broadcasting a circus event. I can be a witness. While the shoe company could be held accountable for not properly fitting your feet, the trauma of seeing this happen is unbecoming. A small fragment of glass from the screen when it shattered was removed from my little toe. I seen NO previous warning labels on the screen in the event a shoe was thrown at it. [:o)][:o)][:o)]
