sellers who are off base
should there be, or would it be rude, a way to tell sellers that they are WAAAY over priced on some auctions! I mean( and I'll be diplomatic) selling a reproduction gun, an old one at that, for as much or nearly as much as an original or 2nd generation(hint) I mean, it's nobodys business but their own, but we are a community are we not? and if so... some sellers do not get the hint...I've seen the same gun listed over and over for the same money.. it aint sellin!! get with the program sellers! lower the price and move the inventory. or are ya lookin for a fool to come along? and while I'm at it... buy a good camera and learn how to use it! I'm so tired of out of focus pictures and very poor descriptions.. take course, do a seminar, geez.. lets get real here.. OK?

I have informed sellers about some things in their auctions, like if they state the wrong product, have the wrong picture, but never about price. They will learn after it does not sell its worth less. 0 -

I think you're free to send the seller a message telling him or her what you think about the asking price.
Many will think that you're way out of line for doing so, given that it's the seller's business to ask the asking price.
Some will take the information you give them into account and appreciate it.
And most will probably take the information under advisement and spin it into whatever convoluted scheme they have for pricing their auctions.
If it's too spendy for you, don't bid on it.
If it's priced too high, let the seller know....unless you don't care.

Some seller a couple counties over from me has $250 on a factory set of S&W grips. I emailed and suggested perhaps he had a the decimal in the wrong place.
His repsonse was that it was a consignement item and the owner had set the price. He also said something to the effect that he was tired of people telling him they were over-priced.0 -
It's called the free market system. Sellers can ask whatever they think they can get and buyers can purchase or pass as they please. Don't bid if the starting price is too high. If everyone agrees with you the item goes unsold and the seller gets the message. If people are bidding at what you think is a high price then maybe you are mistaken?

Price is whatever the seller wants. Unfortunately, that's how capitalism works. What twists my a$$ even more are A$$hats that decide they are now the enforcers of their idea of what is and what is not the law in a particular area. Living in MA, it is a huge PITA when someone says they will not ship/sell an item that they 'think' is banned. It sucks that they refuse to 1) check some provided references 2) get a lawyer to verify if need be or 3) take the buyers word for it. I understand there may be a percieved risk, but use your head for crying out loud.
We get enough crap from our politicians, we don't need it from our suppliers too.0 -
If it is something I am interested in I may email the seller that I am interested but am not likely to bid until the price is more in line with the true market value. 0 -

I am not a seller, but if you sent me such a message I would assume you were looking for a cheaper price. I would suggest you keep looking. There may be a few that are just fishing for a value on a firearm whose market they do not know well. Most are dealers who know what they paid, what their overhead is and what they need to get. Believe it or not most are not stupid. You will also look like a newbie out to reform everything. 0 -

it took me two or three auctions to realize that the market will set the price as in most profitable economic markets. 0 -
A guy had an odd WWII German Mauser K98k sporter up for auction starting at $270.00.
I didn't bother to email him that it was too high being it was chopped.
Another guy said he would buy it for the starting price if the guy threw in the shipping.
He said no.
I had never seen a svjXE-45 code before and was curious.
By the time I found out this overpriced gun was one of six (6) known to exist on a new last week of the war coding from Styer (Austria) it had topped $20,000.00 in the bid.
If you listen carefully you can still hear the guy crying that could have bought it for the opening bid by paying the shipping!
