GM's Bob Lutz: Global warming is a "total crock of

According to D Magazine, at a private lunch, GM chairman Maximum Bob Lutz said global warming is a "total crock of poop." Bob adds "I'm a skeptic, not a denier. Having said that, my opinion doesn't matter." Speaking about the battery-driven Volt, Lutz said, "I'm motivated more by the desire to replace imported oil than by the CO2 [argument]." At the lunch Bob also said hybrids like the Prius make "make no economic sense" and the Volt is exciting for him because "it's the last thing anybody expected from GM." Don't hold back Bob, tell us what you really think.

    Global change is one thing. It's been a fact since the beginning. Global warming... That's just a bit over the top if you blame mankind. Warming now, cooling later. Maybe beginning to cool as we speak.

    Did we help? Maybe.
    Are we the cause? I doubt it.

    And what happens if we find that we're suddenly in a cooling cycle? Does Al Gore come to our door asking us to burn more fuel?[xx(]

    I agree with him in the context of automobiles (I just have not read enough research to take a side on the global warming issue), electric or hydrogen vehicles will not help against carbon dioxide output, since the energy is first generated by fossil fuel powerplants.

    The thing is that coal used to generate electricity is much more plentiful globally and especially in the US, unlike oil which we can't produce enough of at home.
