    If you are looking for an answer from me, general discussion is just that...general. ...with the election year that we are in, we should expect some discussion of current events in the general discussion forum. If things get out of hand, posts will be moved...but I think it's completely unrealistic not to expect some political discussion in the general discussion forum...especially in a time like this.

    Post in politics. No problems. Why do you want to fight and slam me over such a piddling matter? Just post political discussions in politics.

    I have already said this about three times but apparently Don isn't listening.

    An ad in a signature line isn't political discussion. Political discussion is a thread with political issues, facts about candidates, etc as the topic. These threads properly belong in politics and I still do not understand why this is a big deal.

    SP...I asked David. As I said, he is pretty busy at the moment I imagine, what with his son and all. Eric has a pretty moderate view. As I read what he said, he says politics are OK here, with the caveat that the topics don't get out of hand. Why is that so bad? Why can't we mention the Iowa caucus without you moving the post? Why can't we post a presidential poll without you moving the topic? Why can't someone say, "Here is what I heard about so-and-so candidate. Can anyone validate it?" or "Here is who I like and why." But you immediately come along and move them. They "MIGHT" turn nasty (probably, as a matter of fact), but to move them before hand or "just because" is crazy. This is GENERAL discussion! Like I posted in some other topic, this board is getting WAY to PC. A board for this and a board for that and another one for this topic, cause Lord knows we can't offend anyone. Piss on that!

    We have a politics forum. Why do you NOT want to use it? Why do you INSIST on posting political discussion in GD? Why is this so important to you? What's wrong with simply putting political threads in the politics forum?

    We also have a GENERAL discussion board. What's so hard to understand about a GENERAL discussion board? And, no. I don't want to "see your e-mail." Last I heard they were all copyrighted. You might post it in the "legal forum" though to be proper about it.

    This is cut and pasted from the main forum page under the General Discussion heading:

    Exchange messages with other users about virtually any other topic of interest.

    Please note the word "other." This means any OTHER topic than ones for which there are specific forums. According to your thinking, all forums other than GD should be eliminated since everything goes in GD?

    Members requested a separate political forum and got their wish. It exists to accommodate those who want to discuss politics. Why do you not want to use it?

    It's partly subjective. I do my best. I'm not perfect.

    Political discussions jump out at me more than do topics that should also be posted elsewhere. Sue me.

    Why are you so bent on criticizing me? What purpose does it serve? Do you enjoy causing me pain? You think I like being belittled and ridiculed and accused of all sorts of bad things?

    Nunn created a politics forum and said political discussions should go there. Why ream me over it?

    Since you want to call me out on this issue, here are my thoughts...do I not have right to have my own opinion on the matter:

    SP...you have your opinion, I have mine. General Discussion is just that...GENERAL. We should expect some political discussion in the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum...and like I said, if it gets too out of hand, we can always move it. I do not agree with the hard lined perspective you have on this matter. You have your style...I have mine. I'll have your back in any black and white (right and wrong, per posting guidelines) issues...this is not one of them.

    I happen to believe that it's very important for us to be able to discuss these issues leading up to an election...

    As far as my part of this question, I was asked not to post anymore political threads on the GD forum and except for my retalliations of others doing it I have done what was asked of me!

    I understand why this is wanted by most of the moderators (politics is a subject that is bound to start arguements) and have not pushed the issue like some here.

    I do not go to the politics forum because I don't want to read most of the BS that is there!

    I am set in my ways and most of ya'll are set in your ways so really there is no point in argueing anyway!

    I agree with you there. I can only stomach one forum a day so I stick in the general discussion. if it aint mentioned here I won't go somewhere else to read it. besides, I can read part of a post in the morning and by night it is buried two pages deep. [;)]

    General means non-specific. Topics that do not have a specific forum go into general. Politics is a specific forum and political topics should go there. General doesn't mean everything and anything. It means things for which there is not a specific forum.

    Why do we have a politics forum if it isn't meant to be used? Why is this a problem for so many people?

General Discussion is everything except Ask the Experts, Black Powder and Cowboy Action Shooting, Bow Hunting and Target Archery, Competition Shooting and Reloading, Gun Rights and Constitutional Law, Politics, US Military Veteran Forum - Gulf War, US Military Veteran Forum - Vietnam, The Fishing Hole, Want Ads (no `for sale' or `for trade').

    I'm pretty damn smart, huh. [:D]

    Actually I can't make that claim. Unfortunately I'm a high school drop out. I have a High School GED from Guilford College, Greensboro, NC and an Associate Degree from Mohegan Community College, Norwich, CT but both were just paperwork drills. I've never actually attended either place.
