Another Work Story, Hypothetical
If anything like this ever happened in the real world, how would you feel about it? This story is not real. It is not based on any known facts or any individual.
Once upon a time, way down in Texas, there was a district attorney. He had been an elected district attorney for over 20 years, and had always run as a Democrat, and had always run unopposed. He had the job sewed up, it seemed.
The district attorney decided he had enough of that job, so he filed to run for a judge seat that was going to be vacated. He filed as a Republican, switching parties after years of loyalty to the Democrats.
Working for this district attorney were two assistant district attorneys that decided that they would run for the soon-to-be-vacant district attorney position. One filed as a Republican, and was, of course, endorsed by his boss, patted on the head, and allowed to continue in his position. The other filed as a Democrat, and all of a sudden, his work had been sub-par, and was told to clean out his office. Fired, with 10 months to go until the election.
This is a made-up story. Nothing like this could really happen, could it? If it did, it could influence a fellow like me to not vote straight Republican party in November.

how would I feel about it? rotten things happen out of public view all the time, this is just another example. I couldn't do anything about it but that would weigh heavily on thinking about voting for him.

I would have to say the judge wanna-be showed wome very poor judgement. Endorse neither and let them duke it out. By endorsing one over the other in your own department, you are ineffect alienating some potential votes for yourself. 0 -

Stuff like that happens here all the time. KY politics is about the most crooked (probably behind IL and LA) in the country. Based on the actions of a few, you just come to the realization that ALL politicians are crooked. Heck, right now, in our town, our exalted Senator Mitch McConnell is accused of having a local woman fired from her job because at an event here last week she questioned his stance on the Iraq war. She was the director for a downtown company that is waiting and hoping to receive a $3 million federal grant for river port improvements. Was politics involved in her firing? You bet! Now she just has to prove it in a court of law. 0 -
Oh, I don't usually start off to vote straight ticket. It's just that when I review the choices available, that's the way I end up marking my ballot.

The only reason one would vote a 'straight' ticket would be that one would agree with ALL of the candidates on that ticket....
