NRA-I'm going to get in trouble
This is the first time in 39 years the NRA has asked me to join.
They say they're the ONLY gun org. fighting the gun grabbers.
39 years ago they asked me to join but I needed to regester all my guns by serial no. The answer they got apparently hurt their feeelings because they stoped writting me. Now I think they believe

I need that answer. The one I gave them, "I will join when LaPierre is gone." seems to have run out much sooner than 39 years. 0 -
To be fair, they've never asked me for serial numbers or even what kinds of guns, or even if I own any guns at all. 0 -
I have been a life member for years, and in all this time they have never asked me for any serial numbers or types of firearms I own.[?]

50 years a member and never been asked if I even owned a gun. Only time I need the numbers is when I insure a gun over $1500.00 0 -

Something majorly wrong here. Me, my daughter and grandson have been members for years. Each year we renew our membership just like a brand new member. NEVER, EVER have we been asked about our guns.
Besides, how the hell are they going to know if you are lying and just say you are saving to buy your first gun? Something does not smell right here. Regardless of how anyone might feel about the NRA, something is not right.0 -

Even though I am "opting" out of the NRA when my membership expires,.....I have never heard of such a thing!
They are on a big membership drive though, as I just received a packet asking me to renew ahead of time, and I can get some nice junk made in China![xx(]0 -

Absolutely correct. Da-Tank posted it. His veracity is not in question here. I have responded to what was posted, not knowing where he lived 39 years ago. BTW, NYC started the "any firearm" registration almost exactly 39 years ago. Best, Joe0 -

Since you are not able to read very well, I will explain to you that for my statement to be incorrect you would have to register ALL your firearms (this includes your long guns in addition to your handguns).
Please spend more of your time paying closer attention to what I post.0 -

OK, I was living at Ft. Lewis at the time. Washington( befor it became a subdivision of Cal.)
The NRA sent a request for requiting. In all the paper work was a form to list all your gun s #'s. If this was a requirement or for insurance I do not remember, but I wasn't and never will do such a stupid thing. The year was 1969. Some of you were old enough to walk and talk then, but I do not think you were a member back then. For those of you who were members maybe you can remember if it was required or for insurance.0 -

just got my renewal envelope in the mail today. Still not sure if
I'm going to renew or not. On the other hand, who else is going to fight the gun grabbers for our right to keep and bear arms. There's
no other organization as big as and as powerful as the NRA. I don't
agree with the last fiasco turn out. But, maybe their reasoning is
sometimes you have to give ground to get ground. I don't know.

I agree with tr on this one. I maintained yearly and 3 year memberships for some time, then went life-member. Never was I asked about my firearms.
NRA is a lot of things, but they haven't been guilty in this area, at least not with me.0 -

Getting tired of the NRA and their fund drives and renewal paper work the 1st mail I got after I joined was a renewal request. I had just joined with a 3 year and they wanted me to renew already.
Fund drives no wonder they need to have them all the junk mail I get.0 -

Every once in a while, some people need to receive a wake-up call, such as a "nasty" email. I know in my case I would only send such an email if the receiver more than deserved it. Now you can form negative opinions about me without having heard my side of the story, or, if you are interested I will tell you my side of the story. Then you will have made a decision knowing all the facts.
