Hi has anyone at there made a 300 yard target with a 22 magnum bolt act, rifle ,22 inch brll?

I just got a new marlin 22 mag. I was looking in the owners manual it says you can shoot 22LR, 22Mag, 17HMR, and 17Mach 2 rounds. I was just wondering how this is possible, the 22LR I thought would split the casing in the chamber and the 17's are a smaller cal. 0 -

Maybe the manual is printed the same for each chambering the rifle if offered in. Regardless you should not attempt to fire a cartridge the rifle is not stamped with. 0 -

the rifle was made in all of them calibers but it will only shoot what is stamped on the barrel,
look on the left side of the barrel near the rear sight it will be stamped there which it is chamber for
the manual is just printed to cover most of the different models0 -
now that is stupid for an owners manual... i would assume that the rest of the dictionary is printed on the barrel...see your authorized dealer 0 -

i just hate having a beautiful firearm with a litany of PC liability crap on barrel like "if you shoot your leg it might sting" have taken several very nice revolvers & made my own barrels to get rid of this junk 0 -

i see were you were going now,
i hate the warnings on rugers,
but think about it there not making to many nice looking guns now days , just blue or black.
plain stocks ugly wood, making them cheep but selling them high[:(]
my marlin 39 looks and feels way better then that new 10-22 i pick up0 -

If in doubt, lay each of those calibers side by side, are they the same? you can put a square peg in a round hole if the round hole is big enough but it still dont fill the hole.. 0 -
It seems the manual is very misleading, I looked at the barrel and its only stamped for a 22 mag.

I can see why you asked. I have a .44mag super redhawk that says .44 Mag only. It however loves to eat .44special and .44 Russian ammo. My .357 has a steady diet of .38spl. just for two popular examples.
However, your Marlin will only like .22mag.......that being said, it will chamber and shoot .22LR in a single shot form........DO NOT DO this if you care at all for your accuracy while shooting .22mags. You will erode/lead/mess up the throat. It may take awhile, but it will happen. Same with .22shorts .22longs etc. .17s could be very dangerous to try......IT WON'T WORK. Even if you get it to fire, no good will come from it. Its like trying to shoot a .270 in a 30-06.
If you want to save money buy shooting .22LR then what a great excuse to buy another gun!!! [:D]0
