Baked Bean Recipes
I just got a 5 quart cast iron pot and it's just begging to make an order of baked beans. Anybody got a killer recipe?

hey guys lets be, fair there was a lot of money laid out for a pot like that, so in the long run it will save money. so suggest store brand baked beans so the purchase can be justified 0 -
..I don't have a set recipe, but there are a lot of good variations here.

OK, I stole this recipe from Cache Lake Country, it's the on I use.
I use white, or navy beans, Soak them overnight. The next day, drain the water off, add fresh water to cover the beans, and set them to boiling, then turn down to a simmer for about an hour, or when they begin to break out of the skins. I drain the water again, and add some bacon about half a pound, cut up and pushed about in the beans. I cut up a medium onion and push it in also, salt to taste, say a teaspoon or two, and I add 3/4 cup molasses, or you can use brown sugar. I put it in the oven, preheated to 375, for about an hour and fifteen minutes, maybe an hour and a half.
It's kind of a beginning recipe, you can make adjustments to tast.
I also hang out at www.ohiocampcooks.org you may find other recipes there.
Good luck, ain't nuthin better than cast cooking!0
