WHY CANT WE TALK ABOUT THE BIG 3 FREELY
I was watching dateline the other day and they where talking about the best and worst places to live anyone see this? The danish folk got it locked down as far as a gov, jobs, ect. I would live there if another republican was to be elected(did i say that on GB)Anyways In most countries people can talk freely about relig, politics, and finances without being attacked by there people. Why are we so anal as americans. If no one seen dateline the danish are all equal, really really equal. Garbage guy or doctor is about the same pay because the danish want there people to do what they love and be happy. They all have health care they all have nice homes and nice things to fill it with. Dont get me wrong i love my country but in the last 4-5 years its been a little crazy here. I wish we could change our ways but we never will so blah blah blah[:p]

That is some motivation to be a doctor huh! All the extra school and make the same as the garbage man. Or better, why be the garbage man if you could just flip burgers and make the same money. No, thank you anyway. I would just as soon make money based on the skills I learn and how hard I am willing to work.
I kinda like the ol' puritan work ethic myself.

The program also said that they're practically all the same race and religion in Denmark (white and Lutheran) and they don't mind paying such high taxes because the money goes to similar people. The same was true of other countries featured on the show about general happiness. So much for the cultural diversity hawkers. I believe the show was 20-20. 0 -

Well, first of all - it's durn hard to get drunk on US "beer"... I'd call it "beer"-scented fluid...
Being a dane... I can't say I'm a drunkard... I like to drink a glass of whisky or have a beer every now and then.
But that's once or twice a month at most, I don't drink until drunk - but just enjoys it to a meal or to a movie..
But there are differences in what people earn per year - and doctors are paid high saleries - but so are trash collectors.
Doctors are paid high saleries for their abilities upon a long and hard education - trashcollectors are paid high too, but because they work at hellish hours and work hard.
Probably not the best example..
There's a lot of difference between a person who..._
works at a laboratory at a hospital
works at the technical department of a hospital
a doctor at same hospital
a trashcollector
framing/drywalling guys
or any number of other jobs.
The difference is huge.
I was a Marine Engineer at the technical department of a hospital - and I earned about 2.2 times as much as a person in the lab at the same hospital.
I earned about twice as much as the guys taking the trash - and I earned about 30-40% of what a doctor earned... and the doc doesn't even take home a full 8 hour day !!!
Taxes here in Greenland is 40%-42%
Taxes in Denmark is about 41-46% depending on where you live.
But we don't mind it - we get by and make an honest living and are proud of the system.
Free hospital and treatment, even on trips abroad.. we get government-backed trips home or treatment on the spot if we're injured.
The first portion of meds are free - if you require a lot of meds - you have to pay a portion too, but only up to a certain limit, then the gov takes over again.
Free school/education - there's a 9 year mandatory schooling period - the 10th year is optional, but it opens up for a heck of a lot of other educations.
The government pays books and teachers for the first 10 years - you just need paper and pencil. Even pays busfare - you get a bus-ticket for a year at a time, or train if that's needed.
After regular school - government pays educations up to 7? years of duration. If you are studying for 9 year - you're on your own for the last 1? year.
And there's even a small "salery" or "grant" to help with a dormroom and a little bit to live on.
On some specialized educations you have to pay for books though.
There are a lot of things that makes me proud of being a dane - and I'm happy to pull my weight in this system.
It gave me a good start - and I'd want my fellow countrymen to get going asap too.
If anything falls to pieces - you're also backed up by the gov.
There's a small amount of money that people can get, if they're unemployed - a sort of welfare-thing.
It's even less than what you get when you study - but it's enough to get you by.
If you are having trouble or want to educate further - there's always eveningschool, where you can educate further for a small fee.
Or again, if everything fell through - and lets say they closed a big factory and the market is filled with people of your profession - you can apply to take another education and change profession.
There are a lot of things that are backed by the gov - by taxes.
That's the way we want it - and like it...
And yes - the gov stands by our freedom of speech. !!

The "Muhammed cartoons" was a touchy subject - it truly hurt buisnesses throughout the muslim world... but the danish gov said it was within freedom of speech and backed it fully.
Handguns and fullauto might not be allowed - but personal protection is not very widespread in Denmark.
You don't need a knife on you 24/7, a handgun or fullauto for homeprotection...
But other weapons are legal.
Offcourse, handguns are allowed and you can earn the right to take one home - if you're an active member of a gunclub.
If you WANT a handgun - then yes, you CAN have it.
It's easy to obtain a handgun - but those are usually P08 and P38's, the danish Schouboe pistol and things like that.
Those are considered collectors items and can be owned in fully functional condition - they just need to be registered. All weapons are registered.
