kel tec fiasco

i have been going through some tough times financially, so i was forced to sell all my handguns, even my daily carry gun, my glock 23, well, i purchased a kel tec PF9 yesterday, after function chekcing the gun in the store, i took it home, pressed the mag release ONCE, and it broke! simply broke in half, the second time ever being pushed, i am going to try to get a full refund from the dealer today, if they dont give me the refund i am sending the gun back to kel tec and selling it as soon as i get it back, i just cant trust a firearm that broke like that,

anybody else have a bad experience with Kel tec? i cant afford much gun right now, any suggestions for a small, highly concealable, NON KelTec gun?

    Funny, now walmart sells $10 Bell helmets!

    just because a gun cost big bucks does not make it fail proof.




    i have a glock with 30,000 rounds through it NOT 1 failure, my wilson combat has close to 30,000 rounds with the only malfunction was within the first 1,000, and i guarantee almost every round was fired in 16/100 of a second rapid fire {and hitting the target}

    none of my revolvers have ever failed, failure in a defense firearm is unacceptable




    i agree the ones you talk about are great guns. i have never had any of mine fail either. got my first 1911a1 back in 1977 it has even survived a DBL charge from a factory reload, (why i started loading my own)
    everything will fail sooner or later. some maybe sooner.
    think about it not everyone can go buy that high $$$$ gun.
    no matter what there life is worth, they will just get by with what they can or post like this asking ???? about cheep guns would never need to be posted.

    heck i can't afford it ether anymore, i got a remington rand once for 350 bucks, sold it for enough to by my wilson, i put away enough each week to buy my g34

    most people don't buy it because they all cannot afford a better gun, most buy it because it's cheap, and they think they are better guns than they actually are

    one day i to will have a Wilson [:p], i do think the kel tec is better then the old sat night special 25 autos, saw a few of them at a pawn shop today $50 and up, i passed[:D]

    My personal feeling is that the designer of the Kel-tec knew that without a big name in the industry or a long history of producing quality firearms, the second best choice was to design an inexpensive, very lightweight but reliable handgun. And I believe that is what happened with the Kel-tec.

    Until I personally experience failures with my two Kel-Tecs, or until I find that the Kel-tec owners website starts reporting widespread failures, I will have faith in my Kel-tecs. In regards to them being worthless because the are "cheap" guns, keep in mind that an AR-15 costs more than twice as much as the civilivan version of the AK-47. But I doubt that any owner of a civililan AK, if attacked by a AR-15 wielder, would just throw down his AK as being cheap, and therefore worthless, and run to get a more expensive gun.

    In addition to that, because of the Colt name, most Colt firearms are very expensive. Yet there are numerous other gun manufacturers out there that make Colt copies for much, much less money and I bet many people here have those less expensive copies and are quite happy with those "cheap" firearms.

    I agree that usually you get what you pay for. But if you carefully examine the Kel-tec I believe it is one of those rare bargains where you get more than what you pay for.

    As I said "there is a place for both" you will need to decide what you are comfortable with. I think we would both agree a PF-9 would be better than no firearm at all.

    dont know much about the PF-9, but my nephew has the P11 and to my knowledge he has never had a problem with it. uses it as a carry gun

    Thanks for posting that. When ever I read such statements it makes me feel that much better about my two Kel-tecs P11's.
