    yes...and i noticed a lot of things about australia as well.
    number 1 we are not a democracy!..and never will be as we are forced to vote here.
    when the bans came in here we were told outright that we couldnot be trusted with semi auto .22`s and semi auto shotguns because we were potential mass murderers if we had them!
    the new laws were accepted better in the states that already had registration, in the 3 states that didnt have it it was far less popular...i know because i was there that when we had our pro gun march in hobart there were about 15 000 people in it, and we have a small population...there were about 60 anti gun protesters but when it was shown on the news that night they said pro gun people were out numbered 3 to 1 ! ...never, ever trust the media...its fatal,
    believe it or not, we were very united but were tottally ignored by the politicians!!..all the major political parties supported the laws therefore we had no-one to turn to in the political arena..i still have not cast a valid vote since the bans came in...they might be able to force me to turn up and put a mark on the ballot paper, but they have no control over what i put on it !!
    pre `96 there were at least 6 gun shops in hobart alone that i am aware of...now there is only one...i was there not long ago and asked him how sales were, he said he might sell 3 or 4 guns a week...pre `96 = pre registration and waiting periods he said he would sell at least 50 a week!!..i havnt bought a legal gun since `96 because of the red tape involved...permit to aquire..28 day waiting period...lawful excuse for NEEDING the firearm..then getting it registered...cops coming to check out storage safe...if the safe is designed to hold 3 guns and you want a 4th one, you better be prepared to buy a bigger one, that will be at least $800..
    when the laws came in a lot of people gave up guns they could still legally own, they said it just wasnt worth going through the red tape to keep them...

    i fail to see how england or australia is safer...gun crime has gone through the roof in both countries...and the british used to boast that their cops on the beat wernt armed!..now a lot of them carry concealed guns!..that ought to say a lot about how safe britain is now!!
    ive said it before and i`ll keep saying it to anyone who will listen!! THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON FOR GUN CONTROL, AND ESPECIALLY GUN REGISTRATION, AND THAT IS TO ALLOW POLITICIANS TO KNOW WHO OWNS WHAT AND WHERE IT IS SO THAT WHEN THEY WANT TO TAKE THEM THEY CAN !!!!
    there is hope here still, at least in the states that didnt have registration...a lot of people didnt hand in everything that was banned...and because they have never been registered they officially dont exist!!..the day may soon come when they will be needed.
    in the u.s. you have an advantage over everyone else on earth...your 2nd ammendement!..i cant think of any other country that guarantees their citizens the right to own guns, so you do have some protection.

    social networking site...much better than myspace because its subdivided by "networks" you belong to, such as a university or city...keeps the random creepy people trolling down to minimum.

    this is the very reason that "hardcore" anti-gun registration groups are growing in numbers, we must try to push back against the liberal media and polititions that would subvert our right to hold and bear arms. being ambivalent to this issue is where we get into trouble.
    I say this to the people who have elected to not vote in retalliation to the politics of registration.

    YOU ARE BECOMING PART OF THE PROBLEM, by your lack of a vote you give a uncontested vote to the very people that profess to disagree with. Now I fully expect to get a lot of B/S from this post but what Iv'e stated is the truth. You cannot change the face of politics by not casting a vote, but you can sure hurt those of us who do vote, because your non-vote cancel my vote.
    So guys, and gals who have decided that your not going to vote GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND HELP THE REST OF US WHO ALSO CARE.
