Japanese sword question.
This tsuba (is that the right word?) came on one of my swords. I am wondering if the markings have meaning or if they are just geometric decoration.
Before anyone comments, this can't go in Ask the Experts because I have been told it's only for gun related questions.

yes, they do have meaning...one of the marks would tell you where it was made, if its a military sword!..i collect them too, nothing big, but i`ve got 4 that were brought back from ww2 and some that were made after the war,i forget what the web address is , but if you search you will find sites that will help you to identify your sword...theres also books about identifiying them as well...maybe your local library would be able to help you.
