I know it a big picture, sorry. But thought you guys might enoy enyways. These guys are by the old Hanford High School on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.

Yeah you should see the animals that are up on the Yakima Training Center grounds which is very close to this. The Training center does allow special hunts and some very nice animals have been pulled out of there.
We had a crew hit a pair of elk out side of Yakima on their way up HWY 12 2yrs ago. It did a lot of damage to the rig.0 -
Awesome pic you took!!--I took these a few weeks back over near Yakima, WA -they are all wild but they show up to government run winter feeding stations that have fences near the road to keep people away--although you could darn near reach over the fence and pet one they got so close.0 -

I have never seen the sheep. Where did you get those pics? Are you in the Yakima area?0 -

I can't answer your question but there are a lot of sheep in the canyons running down to the Grand Ronde, Columbia, and Snake rivers.

the pics of the sheep and elk are very near Yakima/Naches. There are 2 big government winter feeding stations and when it snows in the high country thats where all the animals end up. It was really cool to hear all the cows making noises-the bulls stayed silent. The stations are right off the highway and you can drive up and park in the parking lot to take pics. There were quite a few disgruntled elk hunters there too looking at them as it was a really heavy snow that had all the elk go there in a hurry instead of staying up in the mountains. 0 -

Ok, so it was at the feeding station. Yeah our rig hit the 2 elk on the corner just past the first station on the way up the pass. I have actually been able to drive up into the game area there a couple of times on incidents. I work out of Yakima and we mainly cover all of the upper valley.
We did a ATV ride up to Rim Rock last year and got to see a bunch of the elk up on the hill side. One of the guys I was with got really excited as he hunts in that area.0 -
They shouldn't feed wild animals. Bad management!

Great pic of the elk and sheep near Yakima. Been bow hunting up that way many times. The feed stations were built to keep the elk from coming in to Yakima to feed during the winter. It has also keep the winter kill rates way down. I remember as a kid driving over Rye Grass, we would have to stop on the highway to wait for the big herds to cross the road. Now with the feeding stations we no longer see that. I'm sure its saved a few road kills as well. I do know that state wildlife biologists take the oppertunity to look at the herds and evaluate the general health of the animals. 0 -

Those are some really nice pics. The next time I move it is going to be somewhere similar. Probably the Appalachian for me. I went to Virginia Tech and part of me never left.0
