For years and years I've been going to go ... this spring I actually have the chance ... but now that its a realiaty I'm seriously reconsicering it.
First off, I'm pretty happy with what I have and not looking for anything.
Heres' a short list of what friends have told me ... from both sides of the table.

3. Rows are 1/8 mile long and there are 100 rows; you won't get through the show in 1 day.
4. Because its so crowded, you only move as fast as the "hurd".
5. It really doesn't matter how rare you think something is, you'll likely see 10 or more of them.
6. Don't ever plan on going back to get somthing ... it won't still be there.
Although I'd really like to go, the older I get, the less fun this sounds.0 -
Get a hotel now if you are going. If you don't mind driving 15 or 20 minutes you should be fine. Yes you should be in line at 7 on Saturday, Sunday is not so bad. If you want to come back and look at something write down the row and isle. You can see the whole show in a day but not if you stop and look at each table. You can find about anything you want and haven't been able to locate. Been going for about 10 years, both shows. I set up downstairs. Going to this show satisfies your gunshow cravings for about 6 months which is when the next one is. Have fun and bring case because you will find something that you didn't know you wanted to buy. 0 -

I take an extra pair of shoes and change at Noon.
I take a Large Backpack and water bottles.
Start on the upper deck, far end, the sun will burn your eyes on the lower deck in the AM.

Don't be put off. This is THE gunshow to attend. Largest in the WORLD.
Yes, it's big. Walking the entire show is said to be the equiviant of walking 7 miles. You can expect your dogs to be barking by the time you get 1/2 way thru.
But that's 7 miles of everything gun related you would ever want to see. And alot of it at better prices than you'll likely see anywhere else.
Vendors (and patrons) come from all over the country to set up. And they want SALES to cover their expenses and make a profit. This isn't one of the too common nowdays shows where the guns are so overproced that they are seemingly there just for viewing.
If you know you stuff, you can get a good deal.
I live about 35 miles from Tulsa, so I don't know about the Motel thing. But would recomend getting reservations in advance. But one time a few years ago the wife and I were so tired by shows end that (after dinner) we decided to get a motel room. And had little problem finding one.
I never go early. Usually arrive about 11AM to noonish. Never had to wait in any line over about 10 minutes. I may miss out on the "early bird specials", but never had any problem finding good prices on what I want anyway.
I have walked the show several times in one day. Granted it's EXHAUSTING.(and if my wife goes, she's done for in one trip). But I tend to make a specific list of what I want and browse the isles quickly. Don't spend much time gawking at things outside my interests.
The advice to take notes on locations of tables/items you want to revisit is GOOD ADVICE. But I'll go one step further. Take VERY SPECIFIC NOTES. You'll be amazed at how hard a specific table will be to relocate. I have had occasions where I knew the "general" location of a table. And searched for more than an hour to actually find it.
If walk away from a deal and return to find it gone, you have no one to blame but yourself. Snooze you lose is the Golden Rule.
Bring Cash WITH YOU! ATM'S are provided. But unless you want to wait in LONG lines to use them, bring cash w/you.
BTW: There are usually at least one, or possibly several celebrities there that you may get to meet. Or at least see.
FYI: Bells Amusment park (formerly on west side of building) is no longer there. This area is now being used for MUCH more additional parking.

After you go a few times, you can do it in one day. The venders try to get the same tables every year so they don't get lost in the crowd. There are some that set up with junk every year and some that set up with stuff that I will never be able to afford unless I will the lottery! I skip those tables and focus on the ones with just the things I am looking for. I usually go with the intention of buying something specific and stick to it. I bought my gun safe from AG English there and got a great deal.
I usually stop by and talk to Bob Dozier the knife maker. He has not sent me a letter this time saying he would be there...
You should go at least once. Then you will go again!

I live about an hour from Tulsa. I go to Tulsa every week. What is the date of the show? What days are you guys going? Maybe we can meet up. 0 -
P.P.S.: One thing tho. I'm not exactly certain of what the current laws are, but from what I've experienced, CASH AND CARRY for guns is evidently a thing largely of the past.
Unless you have an FFL or C&R, (or as myself, a resident of OKLA. who can make private buys), I would advise you make arrangements in advance to have the info (if not signed FFL copies) of your FFL receiver handy. And consider possible shipping/FFL fee's into your dealings.
The ATF is at this show. And FFL dealers are being watched closely.
I have had & seen several deals fall thru when the vendor couldn't/wouldn't sell on a cash & carry basis.
The ATF phone lines will be BUSY. Some vendors will try approvals on the spot. Some won't bother w/sales to anyone who doesn't have an FFL.0 -
I went to one several years ago when I was up in Kellyville training for Schlumberger. I didn't know it was so important. We had some guys training with us that were from England and their eyes almost popped out their head when they say all those guns haha. 0 -

Not sure of actual dates. Spring show is always in April. Fall show in October. Google "Wannemacher Gunshow" for dates.
Since I live close, I never have set times that I go. Sometimes go one day (either), or both. Rarely go much before 10AM.

I have seen museum buyers there. One year there was a pile of Machine guns, mortars, and all types of historic Military weapns and gear by one of the back doors being guarded by armed guards. Waiting for the museum buyers to load up. I'd bet they spent several hundred K$ there!0 -
Show is April 5 & 6. Always the first weekend in April and October I think. Google Tulsa Gunshow for more info. I won't post a link here out of respect for GB.
Won't make this one, have to be at a meeting in SC, and will then do some birding and mamatee watching in GA and FL.

ah...um...id be about ....24 hours from tulsa....[:D]
i would love to go to a major gun show in the u.s...even if i wasnt allowed to buy any guns, it would still be an expierience that i would talk about for the rest of my life.0
