Got My Eyes On a New SCAR
I was at the FN booth and the guy I was talking to informed me the SCAR will be available in 6 months or less.
Definatly the coolest rifle I have ever seen.
Will be available in 7.62x51 ad 5.56
I was aware of this rifle for a few years now but after the demo I can see why the Militery has chosen this to replace the M4 and has already been on the battlefeld.
Designed in conjunction with our very special forces.

REALY!? I figured that was way down the line but with magpul partnering with bushmaster for the massada (and the simularity of the two designs)I can see why. did you get a price? 0 -

Price will be in the 1650.00 range for the civilian version.

The 308 SCAR takes a proprietary magazine that looks like an unfinished FAL mag.

Although the .338 is a sick weapon, its does not serve the same purpose a scar or ACR would, which is more of a SBR approach.
Sick weapon either way.
p.s. Did anyone else get a look at the magpul folding gun thing. There was no name for it but it folded up to smaller than a laptop (and looks inconspicous) and unfolds into a 5.56 SBR.. no plans on public release thoughhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc1j9ySbFKw

My post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek as opposed to being a critical comparison. My main intent was to show another firearm from the S.H.O.T. Show to encourage some more conversation. I did not state that these two rifles had the same mission or were constructed to perform the same purpose.
The SCAR will be available in 3 configurations:
Standard/Close Quarters Combat/Sniper Variation
As you can see, the CQC or SBR if you will, is only one portion of the Modular Rifle System developed by FN. When you do the comparison for the overall lengths of the Standard rifle configurations of the two systems you'll note that the SRS is actually shorter than the Standard SCAR:

I guess I was trying to stay on the CQC topic. though the SRS is a nifty system, and indeed shorter with its bull-pop design, I guess you missed the tongue and cheek responds. (reffrence would be the little sub gun link I posted.)
