Darn those people
Two weeks ago I recieved my new book "Standard Catalog of Colt Firearms" by Rick Sapp. Printed in China, I guess these greedy so and so's couldn't find an American printer to print a book on American Guns. I am a very careful person and the book is coming apart. Cheaply made and some info inside is down right wrong. Used a dull blade to cut the pages so on the backside of each page is sharp. One paper cut and counting. Don't waste your money. What a bunch of bums pushing this cheap junk. Shame on Gun Digest Books/Kruse Publications.

Make certain you led the publisher know you are not happy with their cheap shortcuts.
I find it ironic that a book on Colts is printed by political prisoners in China. Wonder what they thought of the pictures as they proofed the book.0 -
I have written the publishers twice, no response as of yet. There has been three reviews on Amazon pertaining to this book, one was mine, all three negitive. My hopes are folks see my posting and take to heart what I have written. As Americans we need to stop, when possible, buying items from other countries. The disire from low buck buyers has done more bad than good. I will pay the extra two to five dollars for a book done right. 0 -
Once again knowledge is the key. Among my many talents and hobbies is bookbinding. I learned it because I used to collect first editions. Many old books are needlessly disgarded because silverfish have eaten the starch from the glue that holds books together.
If pages are coming out of a paperback (like STANDARD CATALOG OF COLT FIREARMS), simply take the whole cover off by pulling or slicing with a razorblade. Pull whatever paper is left off that is covering the page sections. Take wood glue (remember, paper is made from wood) and smear over the binding area getting all the pages covered. Take a pre-cut sized to fit piece of backing paper and cover the glued area. Coat the paper you just put on with more glue and put the book into the cover. Use several rubber bands to square up and compress your newly bound book. Let dry twenty four hours.
Your book is now BETTER THAN NEW!
