WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL!?!?!? THE FACT THAT IT SAYS "BLACK" A BUNCH OF TIMES? Get over it. Most of the things listed are GOOD things, ESPECIALLY in the black community, the most deprived, uneducated, poorest, and most dysfunctional segment of our society. There isn't a part of our nation that needs these things MORE than black communities. If all blacks had a commitment to education, God, family, excellence, work ethic, self-discipline and respect, made available real talents and skills to their peers within the black community, and practiced a real and viable value system, they and us would all be a lot better off, IMO.0 -
If you substituted white for the places that list a value as black, what then would be the reaction? Also, I heard the pastor on a radio program. He kept talking about the "United States of White America," a term I recall used by militant black separatists (black panthers and their ilk) back when I was growing up. People simply want answers to aspects of a candidate's life that appear problematic which is only natural. 0 -

I believe Nemisis is correct. If is illogical to rant about blacks blah blah and complain about this. BTW, an acquaintance of mine told me that the middle class values thing was to remind blacks that they, like any American, can aspire to more than just the ordinary. How could OBama's church doctrine statement "Disavowal of the Pursuit of middleclassness" equate to "aspiring" or improving one's station in life? Simply put such a principle would disclaim knowledge, responsibility, or any association with the personal goal of self-improvement. Such a principle is designed to stunt creativity in favor of a communist like solidarity in which everyone shares equally in all things, which depicts a society without the middleclass, and only the rich and the poor.0 -

I believe that places like that are keeping racism alive and well in this country. If they would omit the "black" and "African" part of it they would be looked at in a different light.
I attend a Mennonite Chuch. They don't care about race, creed or color. What counts is that you are there!!

Whites, by and large, have these values in place in their communities and hence, don't need to hear it in the context of "white value systems" or whatever. I am not a European American I am an American.
My loyalty is first and foremost to the United States of America not the countries I descended from (although I have strong feelings for them but secondary)
This church espouses Africa first and I quote them:
"We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. "
"A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA."
I plainly state my first loyalty is to the USA not the lands of my forefathers and have a problem with anyone wanting to become president that puts another continent or country before the USA.
This is common sense and indefensible.
