Valentine's Dinner, Wine and dessert Questions...

Who's staying in and who's going out on Thursday?

We're staying in and I'm making Tuna(pun?) steaks, asparagus, red potatoes.

Should I do another side?

What are a couple wines that would accompany this meal well? Chardonnay or Reisling? Or should I go with a Cabernet or Merlot?

Also, what desserts would go well with this?

    Mrs. K and I will be dining at our favotite little Italian restaurant in Dana Point. My wife is Italian-American and seldom ever drinks white wines, but I prefer them and feel that a chard is a bit harsh for fish (but works well for pork) so I'd go with a Riesling [:p]. Desert on Valentine's Day is simple: Whatever Tori's favorite desert is just be sure that is what you serve.

    We like to stay-in. Probably nothing special for dinner; but, dessert is always special.

    I think you should go with a white wine with tuna. We won't do anything for Valentines day other than I'm working at my daughter's schools b-ball game and a parent teacher conference.

    Skip the food...get lot's of Asti Spumante and chocolates...and yes, then turn her over during the deed and do BOTH sides[:p]

    My wife told me I'd better have something that went from 0 to 200 in
    6 seconds. . . . . so I bought her a bathroom scale. Whaddayathink?

    I'm also Italian. I thought a Cabernet or Merlot would also do well.


    Tuna's a rich enough fish that you can get put a red wine next to it. I'd stay away from the Merlot, though. Too heavy. Cabernet would be ok. I'd be more inclined to go with something like a shiraz or a zinfandel (a bit lighter). Or get weird and do a lemburger (which is somewhere between a cab and a shiraz).

    I'm not a big fan or white wine, just to disclose my bias.
