Deputy just scared poo out of me
I was sitting on couch watching TV since static on phone line was so bad I could not stay connected. Saw someone pass by window and looked up and HUGE deputy knocked on door. He asked if all was ok. I said yes and he said there was a 911 hang-up from my number.
I checked and had no dial tone at that time. I waited about 15 minutes and dial tone is back and here I am. It sort of made me feel good that they came way out here to check on 911 hang up.
We have had a terrific front come thru and satellite signal has been lost for awhile. Under tornado warning for several hours. I have an underground shelter ordered but they have not delivered it yet. heck of a note to get blown away while shelter is on order.
Zebra, if you read this, the front is on the way to Tupelo now!! Tom

...any idea of who dialed 911??? 0 -
If you phone batteries go down or weather condition it can happen. We had two officers come to our house in a defensive position and said they had a 911 hang up with no answer. I was sitting at the computer in my shorts and my wife had her PJs on so they decided it was false call. Nice they check things out but a little shock to see two officers show up and check the house out before they knocked on the door. It scared my Neighbor 2 houses down since they parked in front of his house. 0 -

Working in St. Louis this past summer, 2-3 times had the police show up on the jobsite claiming a 911 call had been made from the job trailer. Come to find out there was a short in the phone line where it had been hit during excavating. 0 -
i`m sure everyone would agree that even though it was a false alarm that the deputy did a good thing turning up like that to check things out.it`s got to be a good feeling knowing that if ever there is a hang up in an emergency situation that the law will check. 0 -
dan, even tho it initally took me back a little, I am really, really glad they checked on me. Only thing, I am concerned about, why.what called 911 and I would hate like heck to call help away from someone who really needed it. I guess no system is foolproof. At least not if the fool is sufficiently talented! Tom 0 -
911-hangups are VERY common and 90% of the time there is no problem at the location. It's a good chance to practice running hot however. The folks are amazed when the PD / SO shows up. Sometimes it's kids fooling around and Mom & Dad don't know it. There used to be a LOT of 911s come in from cell phones that people had set 911 on their speed dial then push the wrong speed dial button. At one point there were over 95% of our 911 calls coming as hangups or dead lines from cell phones. Of course this was before cell calls could be traced. People started learning fast that speed dialing 911 was a bad idea after we decided that after an individual phone's first offense, the call got transferred over to a standard line which cost them. 0 -
It wasn't that bad here, our power flickered once. Alot of slow rumbling lightning. I think the worst of it went North of us.
I really feel bad for those people in Missouri and Arkansas that had substantial property damage and lives lost.0
