I don't usually like apples....but you should try

Locust Fork
PINK LADY apples!!! These are smaller, yellow and pink apples and they are sweet. The size is perfect for a snack. I have to admit that I usuall hate apples and NEVER ever ever eat them. UNTIL....someone who comes in the store brought me a bag of these from Georgia. I just love them. I have a hard time finding them....and my customer hasn't been around in a very long time so I haven't been able to harrass him into bringing me any.


PINK LADY....try them!!!!!

    +1 They're GOOD.

    Hybrid between a golden delicious (which I can't stand) and ?...... I forget the other variety.

    I haven't ever had any luck with fruit trees. The sour green apples and the hard-as-rock pear trees seem to do well in our area without any maintenance. We have peach trees at my parents...but they aren't maintained in the right way so we don't get any fruit from them.

    I wanted to plant some pecan trees....and I may try an apple tree.

    I grew up eating apples off the trees planted by long dead Arkansawers..places where the log cabins had rotted into the ground.

    Never been able to find apples since that please me as much..and I have tried a few.
    Will try to find them...but have some reservations about some old, grizzled guy walking into a store and asking..'Got any Pink Ladies"...Guess I will have to work on my approach a bit...[:D]

    The only apple I will eat is Mac's....yes I have had the others and I dont like them...never had Pink Lady's though

    BUT anywho, that is not why I am posting....get some chocolate icing...betty crocker is good (in the tubs) and spread it on an apple piece or dip it...ohhhhhhhhhh goddddddddddd its good.....

    I love apples. Arkansas Black are my favorite. Really hard apple that keeps really well through the winter. Hard to find though.

    I'll eat just about any kind of apple slathered in caramel dip....mmmmm! But my 40 yr old but needs to cut down on all types of dip. Not normally liking apples it was suprising how much I like these!

    I keep thinking of the tree planting idea.

    How hard would it be to keep a tree....do you have to use pesticides to keep bugs from killing the tree?

    NO
    use soap water if anything... and NOT on flowers, wait until fruit comes then spray them with soap water

    we had 4 apple trees, they've been giving off apples since dad was 10, he says.

    The only Apples I eat are Braeburn Apples.

    The Braeburn is a cultivar of apple that is firm to the touch with a red vertical streaky appearance. Its colour intensity varies with different varieties.
    Braeburn apples have a unique combination of sweet and tart flavour. They are available late April to mid October and are medium to large in size. They are a popular fruit for growers for their export qualities.

    It is believed to have been discovered as a chance seedling in New Zealand nearly fifty years ago. It is thought to be a cross between Granny Smith and Lady Hamilton.

    I tried the Pink Lady's about 6 months ago, and I think they are terrific. They are now my new favorite apple.
