ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- Police have arrested 33 people in connection with a cockfighting operation in York County.
York County Sheriff's Capt. Stanley Wells says more than two dozen roosters were seized along with $4,000 in cash in the raids yesterday morning.
Wells says the birds had metal spurs fixed to their talons and may have been injected with a stimulant to make them more aggressive.
Cockfighting is a misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to a $1,000 fine and one year in jail, Wells said.

Twenty some odd year ago I raised and fought chickens. It's the quickest way to get rid of some money that I know of.
