XD40 sub compact accuracy
I was at my fathers house today and we squeezed off roughly 14 rounds through my new XD 40 sub compact. we were aiming at a 6" x 16" piece of wood, at about 65-75 ft away. if the wood ever had life it could have walked away unharmed after all the shots were fired. any suggestions? thanks

Start closer till you see and can hit what your shooting at. First thing they tell you is to shoot close until you can put them where you want and then go back a little and again. 0 -
3in. barrell at 25 yds. Goodluck.
start out at 15 feet.0 -
Bet I can hit it with my Walther P22.....[:D] 0 -
It is likely not the fault of the pistol...start closer and move back as you get comfortable. 0 -
As stated always start close and find the point of impact for your sights.
The XD pistols sights are set as a 6 oclock hold and messes some people up until they know this.0 -
I have an XD-9 subcompact along with the 4" XD-9. The short barrel has some jump with the 9mm so I bet it has even more muzzle flip with the .40. I find it to be accurate at short range < 25'. I have not shot it outside a longer distances.
I expect you will need more the 7 shots each to get the feel of the gun. As others said start a little closer and you will be fine. You also need to feed a few rounds through to get it broken in, I shot the XD-9 4" for the first time today and it took a couple mags for me to get on point with it.
Good luck with it, I know I love mine [:D]0 -

please excuse my ignorance, can you explain the 6 oclock hold? thanks0 -
You imagine a clock on the target, and line the sight up at 6 o'clock on the dial. It amounts to a lower aim point than a dead on sighting. 0
