Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
Something occurred to me today for the first time. With Obomber taking the lead from Hillary, could the unspeakable happen again?
I'm talking about the string of political assassinations that took place in the late sixties. I'm sure a lot of you remember the nationwide anarchy in 1968 when RFK and MLK were killed.
Besides the obvious race riots that took place, hundreds of deaths and millions of dollars in damage, it brought about the 1968 Gun Control Act. Would anyone be surprised if martial law was declared?
Down here on the Gulf Coast, most people are prepared for a storm all the time with extra rations, potable water, fuel, and ammo.
I wonder if the rest of the country would be prepared for a storm of a different kind?

another one...ok, i know this is way way out there...but...do any of you think that maybe obama is being set up to become president just so some 'nut case gun owning redneck racist"will shoot him, and that that incident could be used by the anti`s to take your guns?....ive said here before that i wouldnt be surprised some time soon if there was a major massacre, maybe 200 or 300 people killed and the politicians would use that as the excuse to take your guns!...
maybe shooting obama would be the excuse they would use....
we had 35 people murdered here and that was the excuse they used on us!...but we didnt have the constitutional right to own guns!!...you do, therefore i think it will take something major before they will go against you and ATTEMPT to take your guns....

I think that both Hillary and Obama would represent higher than usual risks for assassination attempts so I am sure the Secret Service will step up protective services. I doubt that an assassination would lead to martial law but these days anything is possible.
If either is elected I will keep my fingers crossed that all of us, including the president (shudder), survive either one's term in office.0 -

Are people so stupid and/or wimpy that they can't practice foresight and are unable to discuss possible scenarios? While certainly more news-worthy, I'm convinced that an assassination will do less for anti-gun-folk than the insanity of a 17-year-old kid with a bolt-action 243 randomly sniping a girl in her car.
Think about it, when the anti's, in their twisted logic, realize that any gun can kill, well, that's the gun they'll be after.
Besides, I don't think Americans are nearly as passionate as we were in the late 60's. Rioting is a lot of work, man. I just don't think people have it in us anymore.

I didn't respond because I thought you summed it up pretty well. Better to be silent and preared than a motor mouth and not.
You also have to remember that there are a lot of young folks who didn't go throught the assassinations of J. Kennedy, R. Kennedy, Martin Luther and the attempts on Reagan and Ford. They don't realize who real it is or how quick it can happen. They also don't realize what the potential for riots are included, or the new gun control laws that will immediately follow.0 -

answer the 2nd question 1st. If there was another president assasinated and they could prove that it was some gun group or just a gun nut, we could be in for a hard look at our 2nd amendment rights.
I think the amount of security surrounding either one of these two will increase like never before simply because of that threat, I'm seriously thinking that its not going to happen,the SS could not allow that to happen again look at the security around our present and previous presidents have had its been ungodly, these guys can't even get close to crowds they are totally his getting into and out of there vehicles, I mean they weld the man holes in place if there coming to town.

Why is it necessary to discuss such senerios?
Should we not be prepareing for what is inevitable? Build your supplies at home for a 12 month period or MORE. Stockpile more ammo than you think you will ever use (It could be traded for needed supplies). Prepare a place to escape to that is not breechable. LEARN first aid and all you can about advanced care. Learn to suture or staple wounds, treat infection, and splint, ect. LEARN to be SELF RELIANT!
THEN find yourself a group of like minded people and become a brotherhood. Your lives will depend on each other.
The first step in being prepared, is to prepare yourself FIRST.0 -

Now you're calling people names for not responding to your post. Your thread was only up for a few minutes, for crying out loud. You think the whole world has nothing better to do than pay attention to what you have to say? Put your comments out there and see what develops. I think most people aren't prepared for anything. If something like what you are talking about happened I think people would let the powers that be lead them by the nose. I got to thinking about this the other day as I watched Obama move through a crowd in SC. With so many states now having CCW it would be very easy to get next to a canidate and off him/her. I think if this happens we will see an immediate curtailment of guns rights nation wide. 2nd ammendment be damned. 0 -
Well, you started it up. I am sure it has occurred to a few million people already. Assassination is always a danger, no matter how well prepared defenses are. As I have been around a few SS and FBI people, I can tell you that if you think all of them are the elite, well I hate to burst your bubble. They are not infallible, not perfect, and you can't prepare for everything. Some are about as sharp as a marble. That said, it would be a disaster for sure, in these times. Some of us have wondered if Hillnasty and Billary might just bump Omamabama off themselves. They have a history of losing people who oppose them in some strange and unexplained ways. Whatever happens in the next year or so may bring us much misery and self examination. Good luck to us all. 0 -

ive got another thought as well...now while i know it is not true, MOST people in other countries think of the u.s. being full of gun packing red necks...now IFhillary clinton or osama obama get elected as president you will have the first woman as your president, or the first black person as your president!..now that of course will be a decision you u.s. citizens will have to decide, and its nothing to do with anyone else from any other country...BUT..yes, there is always a but...IF either of them get assasinated and that is used as an excuse to take your guns, dont think that any other country will have sympathy for you...gun owners in other countries will, but you would find the backlash against you the law abading gun owner in the u.s. would be huge!!...it would go something like..."oh, how could they murder such a wonderful woman////a wonderful man who was only trying to improve things for minorities in the u.s.....they should ban all guns there"...i can hear it now...you just wont win which ever way you turn.
i will say this much...if they ever try to introduce bans on you i will post a way that will allow you to store your guns safely from moisture and rust while they are buried!..and i know it works,..not that ive tried it personally though...i wouldnt do that.
i just get a bad feeling about the future for you all...i swear, the anti gunners just leave me with a feeling that they have some nasty, dirty plan in waiting for you...and when they spring it, they will amaze you at how fast they will act!...just imagine if they ban all ammo that has military uses...that will leave you with kids air rifles!.0 -

Martial law could be implemented pretty easily. Katrina was a perfect example. The military felt bad about what they were doing. Going door to door, confiscating firearms from law abiding citizens protecting their property. Never to be returned. While crimes raged in other parts of the city. But, like the good robots they are, they did it anyway. I have no doubt if they're ordered to fire at me, they will fire.

The aftermath of Katrina was probably one of the biggest disgraces at all levels that I've ever seen in my lifetime. Absolutely pathetic. That's probably a minature version of what could happen everywhere. The people in power can sit back and view the tapes now and see how easy it was. It was very simple taking everything from everybody. It was the last thing any of the citizens expected. You know, I'd maybe expect a knock on the door. "Are you ok" That sort of thing. Then they move on.
No, I would never anticipate seven armed police officers tackling and beating up a terrified old woman in her own home for trying to turn over a small revolver to them.
From what I hear, not much of any of it was returned back to their rightful owners. Some were given away to buddies. The rest sit stockpiled in trailers. If they havne't been destroyed already. Absolutely disgraceful.0 -

So whom did I personally attack? I posted this to head off any shock and wasting of time people may experience if such an occurance took place. You can accomplish a lot of preparation in the five hours most people sit watching the tube for updates. For one, empty the geocery store before it gets burnt down.

I went to DC this weekend to see Frank Caliendo (great concert, btw) and we passed by the hotel that Shrillery was at doing some convention, the entire hotel for a 1 block radius was cordoned off with at least 100 police/FBI cars around. 0 -

The way this country is going I am ready for anything... got a bunch of ammo ready... it might be needed for hunting or protection... some food in the basement, and some wood stacked outside. Never know with the way things are right now what might happen the next day. 0
