Best 9mm self-defense ammo

Just ran 200 rounds of Winchester white box through my new Kel-Tec
P-11. That little sucker is a handful! Don't care to shoot it any more today! Had one FTF. It was a "light strike" I guess. Pulled the trigger a second time and it went bang. I'm going to blame it on the cheap ammo for now. I figure after I put around 300 more rounds through it, the gun will be broken in enough to tell if it is going to be 100% reliable. My question is this: what is a good self-defense 9mm ammo? I have never carried a 9 mm, alwaya a 38 spc snubbie. I want to buy several different boxes and run each through before I decide what to carry. I do like this little gun though, at least size wise. I can stick it in my front pocket and it doesn't print at all. I have an ankle holster that it fits that looks like it may be the ticket though. If this one works out, I will probably by the wife the P-32 for her purse. She doesn't do recoil very well, and the 32 is better than nothing.

    Any of the modern JHP's will work well, the main point is to have a well placed shot.

    The real key is running at least a couple of boxes of any ammo you intend to use for CCW through the firearm. If it can't do this with 100% reliability, then find a different load.

    I have had very good results with Federal 9BP
    115 Gr.JHP. Very low flash and quite accurate. Over the years I have changed HD firearms several times. Everyone firearm I used had to fire 200 Rds without a FTF or FTE. None of the firearms I have used ever failed to feed the 9BP

    This is just my opinion and I'm no expert, so take it at that.
    I think it depends on what yourself defense scenario is going to be. I carry a 45 larger grain hollow point if I'm going to be indoors malls, stores, etc., or places where over penetration will be a factor.
    Outdoors hiking, ATV riding, etc. I carry a 357 SIG smaller grain solid point in a hot load. I figure I may need the longer range and verlocity/penetration over knock down.
    If I was going to carry a 9 mm indoors I would want a larger gain hollow point. If I was going to carry it outdoors I would want a smaller solid point in a hotter load.
    Dont kid yourself with shot placement crap. Yes shot placement is the differance, but try making a perfect shot if your life is in danger.
    Again just my opinion.

    Just make sure you can hit what your aiming at. The 9mm is plenty deadly when delivered with precision accuracy in sufficient quantity!

    +1 on the Cor Bons--I use those in my P95 and I also like the Remington Golden Sabre's.
