Northwest Mosquito Question...(Super Insects???)

I have seen several mosquitos this winter. I've been out elk hunting (a couple weeks back) and the temps were WELL below freezing and I saw several mosquitos... Is this a different variety of mosquito that is impervious to low temperatures??? You did not see mosquitos in the winter back east... I just saw another one in my house today...

    Good question. I killed a couple in my deer blind last weekend, it was 22 degrees. Wierd.

    Here in Michigan you killed a couple last week? It was funny when they were in Eric's neck of the woods. [:o)]

    We had blood suckers and moths when we were hunting during a freezing rain. 3 out now, they should be dead.

    The best thing about winter mosquitos is if you dress in thick winter clothes they have a hard time drilling all the way to your skin

    It doesn't cost me anything Don...I grab my bow and hit the woods...my hunting license was purchased 6 months ago.

    I'd like to be able to say that it was a northern cold weather willow mosquito, but unfortunatly I'd be lying. because the mosquito was probably just stirred up out of the brush you used for your blind. if your blind is near water it is more likely that it was wintering over. and by the way the first paragraph of this post was a figment of my imagination. I was pulling your leg.

    Eric, I would like to appologize for my reaction to your banning PB, after rereading his posts I agree that you took the proper action, although I will miss his protaginism.

    Eric did you look into that Judge i told you about.

    yep, I had mosquitoes in my house up thru november. flies too. global warming.

    Heck, just tonight I was feeding cat and saw something on his eyebrow. He resisted but had a tick on his eyebrow. Size of small coronel of corn. Don't know why I have not seen it before. Anyway, said tick is going to spend a cold night out. Tom
