Drivers seating position
Ran up to the BBQ house to get a sandwich before Sandy gets home and makes me eat healthy again, and was passed by a young kid (17 to 21 maybe) driving a Honda Civic. He had the drivers seat reclined almost all of the way back and could not really see over the steering wheel.
I just had the thought, if he were in a head on accident, the air bag would go over his head, and he would fold up in the floorboard like a rag doll.
Why would someone want to drive in that position.

Danny, it appears that is the cool posture for adolescent driving, at least for some. We see lots of low riders in that position. 'Course a lot of them couldn't see over the wheel anyway. 0 -
Most of em are leaning about 45 degrees off to one side or the other and their hats are cocked about the same measure. 0 -

He did also have an elbow on the consol which had him "off center" to a degree. It made me laugh until I thought about what would happen to him in a wreck.

Three times, once real bad. But, I was wearing leathers and a helmet, had both wheels on the ground, was in the proper lane and riding position and wasn't speeding. I even wear ear plugs and safety glasses when I weed eat or mow. Safety is not an optional thing, especially when the event has magnified dangers.0 -

In the itty-bitty-rice burners, there are some significant gains to be had by inclining the seats back - it moves the CG to the rear (good for weight balance in too-much-weight-forward FWD cars), and lowers the roll center for better cornering. However, unless they had Five-Point-Harnesses in the cars, they were doing it for some other reason. 0 -

I asked the cops at the front gate to our base why they dont make these kids get the seat up and turn the damn rap down.
They will stop the bikes coming through if they dont have a reflective vest on or they are wearing sandals on the bike.
They have even told me to take my truck nutz off my hitch because it is sexually offensive.
But they cant tell them to sit up and turn the damn music down.
Every time I see the hat cocked to the side I want to slap the damn thing off their head...and they even try to cock it that way with the unit baseball caps in uniform.0 -

I don't get it either. Unless you are taller it means you have to stretch for the foot controls and the steeriing wheel. Naturally if you have to make a quick steering manuver much of your leverage is gone. Of course it does have its advangages... you are a smaller target if someone tries to shoot through the window. 0 -

Notice we set a record high temperature for this date in the DFW area. Maybe he just couldn't figure out how to adjust his A/C vents.0 -

I think its funny as hell, they had a guy try to car jack, he got caught, when they blew out the tires he tried to get out and run, but his pants fell down, tripping himself, yep laughed until myside hurt.0
