    Soon as i read the title HEAT is the first movie that came to mind.

    Open Range had one of the better shootouts in it at the end

    at least their 6 shooters ran out of lead after 8-10 shots!

    I like the one at the end of Monte Walsh (the newer one, with Tom Selleck). Only two men fighting, but pretty interesting. Winchester lever shotgun vs. 1886 .45-70. Aside from some goofy non-historical context (same as Open Range), this made-for-TV movie was generally pretty good.

    I like the movie Boondock Saints. Its kind of an obscure cult classic, but if you get the chance, watch it. Full of good gun fights and the sequence in which the storyline is told is completely awesome. Check it out, you'll be routing for the good guys.

    Felt real: Heat
    The first time I saw the bank shoot-out, a line from the opening battle of TWB came to mind:
    "Man, they are blowing this town to HELL!"

    Hong Kong Style: The Killer, the restaurant hit.
    Very brief as John Woo shoot-outs go, but great impact.

    The year is 1920, the setting Matewan, West Virginia, where the town's coal miners labor under miserable, unhealthy conditions. Enter Joe Kenehan (Chris Cooper), a rebellious union leader who wants to organize the West Virginian miners, as well as the Italians and blacks brought in as workers. Based on a real massacre in Matewan that started the 1920-1921 Coal War between miners and coal company thugs, MATEWAN subverts the convention of Westerns like HIGH NOON. Kenehan is not the drifter who will save the miners with his skill at a six-shooter; rather, he is a pacifist whose message of non-violent resistance the miners have difficulty accepting. The story is divided into four parts, alternating between times when Kenehan prevails and times when the instinct for revenge against the coal company wins out. The first large-scale historical epic made by director John Sayles (who once worked in the Meat Packer's Union), MATEWAN is a subtle strike against the anti-union climate of the 1980s and a moving portrait of the difficulties of collective action.

    We actually got to go down to Tombstone last year on vacation and it was pretty neat to stand on Allen street and just wonder..was a great place to visit..by the way I liked the Wild Bunch also..Bull

    I forgot the last gunfight in "Quigley Down Under".

    "This ain't Dodge City -- and you ain't Bill Hickock." BOOMBOOM-BOOM-BOOM. Most very cool. Tom Selleck is one of those actors who gives you impression he actually can use a gun that well.

    And one of the greatest lines ever: "I said I didn't have much use for one. I never said I couldn't use one."

    Actually, another shootout from "The Wild Bunch" has always appealed to me, and it's one you never actually see. After Holden, Borgnine, Oates, and Johnson have been killed -- and Robert Ryan is sitting alone outside the town that's just been shot to pieces -- the scumbag bounty hunters mock him a little, then ride off cocky as hell into the desert. And, after a bit, you just hear a series of shots, and know that the scumbags won't be collecting any rewards on the dead men slung over their packhorses' saddles.
