Any Of Y'All Go To Gun Auctions?

Like police auctions? I have been to a few, but they are getting scarce.

If any of you know of any gun auctions/police property auctions with guns, going on in Texas or one of the surrounding states, please give me a heads up.

    Heritage auctions had one here not long ago. It made me want to schedule for them to come and auction off the whole inventory of the store with the HIGH prices they were getting. People were bidding things well over retail....and happy as heck to win it out from under "the other guy." They have a website, but I don't know of any gun specific sales. The one I went to was an estate sale...and if its an estate in Alabama there is gonna be a gun or two there.

    I think that would break my camera! Let me get over what all I did to my backside over the holidays and maybe then my camera can take it....maybe about three months or so. If anyone misbehaves around then.....backside pics!

    Here in Oregon police Auctions are no More. They destroy the guns.

    FWIW, you could try searching something like:
    newspapers+texas+classifieds+public notices+auctions
    Seems like it should be under public notices.

    Yes, I go to auctions with guns all the time. None of them are police auctions, however. As others have said, most police in my area (Ohio, Ind. Ky.) destroy confiscated firearms, in some cases before notifying or returning them to their rightful owners. The auctions that I attend are generally just public actions. You can find the ones close to you through auctiozip.com. If you want to be able to search farther afield and narrow it down to auctions with guns, you'll have to pay for it. Best of luck --

    The PBSO incorporates them in with the gun shows here. At least they used to. As a LEO, you should have a better chance of finding them then a "civie".Right?

    I agree with locustfork about the prices of the guns at estate auctions. I have seen several guns sell for up to 2 to 3 hundred
    dollars more than they are worth. I never understood why someone would pay that much more than the guns are worth. Someone standing next to me at an auction said that maybe the bidders that overpay
    for a gun may not be able to buy guns legally at a gun shop. Here
    in MO. there are no background checks done at any auctions that I go to.

    I've been to three auctions over the last fourty years when gun stores were going out of bussiness. Almost everything went for more than retail. I got some bargains on knives & powder & a few other items but the idiots were bidding like crazy on the guns.

    I just read a story about the real estate auctions in San Diego last week & they bid most of the properties over what they could have bought similar properties for & if there were any real bargains the banks have the right to reject the bids.

    ONLY GUNS I HAVE EVER SEEN AT AUCTION HERE ,
    was just the other night. 10 went up some pretty nice ones and the crazy people paid about 25-35% more then blue book, i did pick up a real nice marlin 882 22mag for $135.

    DRSCK...Kentucky (at least the state police, not sure about local authorities) auctions off seized guns. Have a friend who makes a fairly decent side income by going and re-selling what he buys. Sometimes some decent guns come across, but he deals mainly in Jennings and the like. Can pick them up at auction for nearly nothing and sells them for app. $50 or so. Kentucky criminals don't have much class when it comes to the guns they carry!

    Around here it used to be that guns could be bought at estate auctions at reasonable prices. Now that is few and far between. Back in the summer, I went to a gunshop closing auction and bought (2) Ruger 1022 RSI (full length stocks) NIB $160/$170, a NIB Ruger 9622 for $190 and a NIB Remington 7400 30/06 for $240. These were all bought in the last hour of the auction. It was a sale inside the gunshop and was VERY hot and crowded and most of the buyers had left after all the Brownings/Benellis/Berettas had sold a couple of hours prior. There was actually two dealers who bought the majority of the Brownings/Benellis/Berettas. It was worth the wait. I like my 1022 Internationals.

    ILG - I think I will pass on that. I believe (not for sure) that those two made either 6 or 7. If I get a little time this week (tax season) I will drag them out and post a picture of two.

    In Kentucky, all conficated weapons end up in Frankfort State Police auction twice a year(dealers only can bid),they sell in small and large lots! The money collect is supposed to buy vest for police depts needing them.
