Man, I?m Still full

Old-Colts
My wife and I went over to the little town of Edom, Texas (population 300) and had dinner at "The Shed" this evening. I had the all you could eat Deep Fried Catfish Fillets (I did have all I could eat) followed up with some Peach Cobbler and Ice Cream and my wife had their 4 piece Deep Fried Catfish Fillet plate followed up with some Pecan Cobbler and Ice Cream (yes, I typed that right - Pecan). Good stuff! [:p][:p]

Now I think I'll go settle in with a Carlos Santana DVD in DTS Surround Sound and a few glasses of Ice Tea to help digestion![8D]

    wife and little girl are out of town. I had some of my daughter's frozen chicken nuggets and a can of Campbells soup. I bet you jealous of me[;)]

    Know it well Old Colts, and I can totally relate to that feeling. Plenty full on the great grub and then have to have some of that pie on top........

    If you like Cajun, ever in Longview, stop in at one of the two Dudley's locations. They used to be in Tyler too but lost their lease on the courthouse square and now they're only in Longview. Great food, consistent and well prepared.

    I'll have to get out to The Shed now that you've reminded me of it.

    Next to The Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Texas The Shed has the best Chicken Fried Steak I've found.

    If that is owned by the same people, that had "The Shed" in Winters, TX they have some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Hands down the best BBQ sauce. If you ever go back please ask and let me know. I would love to go eat there.

    Yes, I've been to the Dakota Steak House and it is pricey but it is also very good. Just don't make it a habit (unless you are Bill Gates or name is Walton)

    I'll sure have to check out the Shed again, especially since they've expanded as you say and have room for me.

    You'll like Dudley's in Longview, they are consistent and good. Now I certainly think you'll find better real Cajun in Louisiana but you don't have to drive as far.... l.l[:)]

    As far as chains go, I also favor Razzoo's (sp) in Dallas area and Pappadeaux for excellent Cajun cuisine.

    Now you have me hungry for Cajun food. We're taking our car over to Bossier City for servicing on Monday, so in addition to breakfast at Cracker Barrel, shopping down on the Louisiana Boardwalk (wife at the River Walk shops, me at Bass Pro Shops), I think we will have dinner at Ralph & Kacoo's. They aren't as good as they used to be, but their half and half plate (Crawfish Etouffee and Fried Tails) is still pretty good!

    Old colts, if you get to the Dallas area and go to Razoo's try their gator tail smothered in Etouffee' it is awesome. I'm in Shreveport area frequently, where's that place you mentioned? I'll have to check it out.

    We started going there in the 70's when we would come back to this part of the country on vacation. It was better then, but still isn't bad! They used to serve what was called Red Fish either New Orleans or Bourbon Street Style. It was Char-broiled Red Fish served with Lafitte sauce, which was Beef Stock that had been reduced over a 3 day period combined with your choice of crab meat, crawfish tails, or shrimp and served over the fish. Man was that good and rich, but they stopped serving the Lafitte sauce because it was just too time consuming. They also served a dessert called Satin Pie, which was kind of a very creamy Peanut Butter Cheese Cake. They still serve it, but it just isn't the same.
