Computer help - CD burner

I'm having trouble with my cd burner. It used to work just fine but now it's not. I put a disk in and it doesn't do anything. It does have power and the lights all come on. I can go into My Computer and see the drive, but if I open it up it doesn't show anything as if its empty or no disc. I am using the same disks that I was using before. I burned probably 10 cds with it and then one day I tried to burn one this happened and it has been this way since. I'd like to fix it. It's a pain to load up songs and transfer them to the other computer.

    The drive could be burned out, I've been though 3 burner drives on my computer because of this.

    Sounds like the laser light is burned out.

    Mine done the same thing about three weeks ago. Ended up, the drive was bad. THanks to a Dell warranty, they replaced it.

    [:(!][:(!] It's an almost NEW drive. I built the computer myself not 6 months ago. ARGHHHH

    Oh well, thanks for the advice. At least they are pretty cheap.

    That could be the problem there too, buying lower end components.
