OKAY YOU ARMY GUYS....

We had meatloaf for dinner tonight and it was soooo good.....classic brought up what he used to get in the army and I said it reminded me of scotch eggs...so do any of you army guys remember eating this?..

Meatloaf with hard boiled eggs in the centre?...so that when you sliced it you had to slice thru the hard boiled eggs too?..

    This old colored lady I used to know made it that way. It was the best thing in the world.

    She had a home cooking resturant and the food was off the hook

    You know what never fails to amaze me?...I wasnt even born when Classic was in basic training, but we are together now, and the stuff he used to eat either in the army or his mom made for him, I already know how to cook...

    I mean, the stuff hasnt changed much...what one had 30 or so years before you, chances are you had it and know how to make it....may not seem much to you guys but if you stop and think about it, of all the changes in the world and there have been a lot and so big, food and what we eat really hasnt changed....

    Yep, that was good! it depended on who was doing the cooking, they used to put sausage or bacon in the greenbeans too[:p]

    in the navy they called it 'meatloaf surprise.' the egg is suppose to absorb the grease and its an indicator when the middle of the loaf is done.

    When I was stationed in Japan, we had a Philipino cook who would do this. Except, he not only used eggs, he would put pickles, eggs, onions, or anything else he could find in the middle of his meatloaf. It was really a "meatloaf surprise" when he made it. But, as I remember, it was pretty good - just strange.
