Rented a XD and Glock Today at the Range
I test fired both the XD in 9mm and the Glock 26 in 9mm. Personally I thought the glock was better but I wasnt overly impressed with either. I think the Smith and Wesson is better than both.

Funny, I had the same experience. I was looking at buying a new 40 and wanted to try them. Ended up getting the M&P 40 without the mag safety..........much better fit and ate everything I gave it on the range. 0 -

not too much but it seemed more accurate though. i was very disappointed in the XD's accuracy. the XD felt a little flimsy too. i liked how light it was but maybe that was the problem. on the plus side it never jammed in the 150 rds i fired through it.

I had the opposite impressions of those guns. I felt the XD shot better. And I've never been able to shoot a Smith Semi as well as either the Glock or XD.0 -
A lot of this comes down to subjective "feel".
The Glock grip is unusual, some like it, and some don't.
In this class of polymer guns, I like the Walther 99, mainly because it has a traditional double-action, not the cocked-and-unlocked Glock [IMO not-so] "Safe-action."0 -
is it possible that the glock fits some of your hands better than the xd and vice versa? that would help explain some of the differences you're experiencing in accuracy. not necessarily the guns, but rather, you're just able to shoot one better than the other. hell, my kimber 1911 shoots more accurately than my xd40 but i've also shot bottles out of the air with the xd. probably couldn't do it with the kimber. the xd just fits pretty good. 0 -
the feal of a gun is a funny thing I have 3 45 each of which I bought to carry , I normally carry my taurus357, go figure. 0 -
I have XDs and Glocks and for me the XDs are more accurate than the Glocks. I agree with the whatever fits you the best works the best. I purchased a S&W M&P 45 and in the one range trip I made with it, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I have changed the grip size and will try it a couple more times before rendering judgement. 0 -
I liked both the Xd and the Glock I tried but chose the M&P 40 because of the better fit and ease of aim, etc. Having been a 30 year Ruger shooter, the XD and especially the Glock felt like the old brick Rugers in my hand.
As far as which of the three actually performed better I cannot say with a little more than 150-200 rounds through each they performed equally well for me. All three are nice quality pistols. The M&P just fit me best.0 -
I own both and have shot a ton of rounds through both my Glocks and XD's. I prefer the Glock because it has a more "solid" feel. 0 -

That's why multiple manufacturers are still in business[:D] All three are quality weapons and you did the right thing by shooting the different brands and making an informed choice. Too many people go be the ads or a buddys suggestion when purchasing an item instead of trying it out for themselves.0
