The What-the-hey DVD Giveaway - CLOSED
Or, 826 posts! Woo-hoo!
The rules for entering are iron-clad and will be strictly enforced:
1. You must be able to type sufficiently well to add a post to this thread.
2. You must do so in some passable form of English or variation thereof.
3. Those who include in their post and/or their signature any variation of "DEATH TO AMERICA!" will be disqualified.
4. There are two lots up for grabs, pick one that you're entering for.
On to the second-hand goods.
Lot #1: Two spy-type movies.
Breach
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401997/
The Good Shepherd
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343737/
Lot #2: The first season collections of two sci-fi TV shows.
Andromeda
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0213327/
Firefly
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/
All items are previously viewed. The two spy movies are minty, in widescreen with bonus features. The Andromeda collection has been around the country a few times and is showing it, has ten discs and bonus features. The Firefly collection is one of my loaner sets and has a few scuffs but is in fantastical condition, has four discs with bonus features. All discs play just fine.
Not a requirement, but as a Firefly fan I humbly request that if you love the series you pass it along to another recruit and git yerself a new set.
I'll draw a couple of names on Lincoln's Birthday.

Well then, skip the movies and go for the series DVDs. If you like guns, you'll like Firefly. It's not like most sci-fi; no aliens, no time travel, no faster then light-speed travel.
From the creator:
I thought: Millennium Falcon, good; Stagecoach, better.
It's about nine different people looking into the blackness of space and seeing nine different things.
There's no senators, nothing stately, it's people who are trying to find a job and stay alive.
These are the people that the Enterprise would've blown right past.
Ways I've tried to sum it up:
Its like Stagecoach, but on a spaceship, and with more guns.
You know how Penn & Teller (well, just Penn, really) describe their act as magic for adults who hate magic? This is sci-fi for adults who hate sci-fi.
And a few gratuitous Jewel shots.
Glam:
Signing the Ariel Ambulance a while back:
mmmm... tongue-biting action!
(I really just wanted to bump this up one mo time, will draw names tonight.)0 -
