Can someone help with Capture BVRP Fax

I have Capture BVRP Fax listed on my computer as a printer. I don't understand what this is. It was on my computer when I purchased it. It looks like I can send a Fax and receive a Fax, but I have tried it and can't. Do you have to have a fax machine attached to your computer? Thanks.
