DSL rant...EMBARQ
For the last several days, my connection has been way slow - like a minute to load the GB home page. Did all the things I could think of to make my computer right - no help.
Finally called Embarq(my ISP) and they informed me that they had an "unknown" problem in my area, and that it would be fixed on the 21st.
How the hell do you fix an "unknown" problem, and how do you know when you'll be done??
I really dislike being treated with condescension.
Should I request some kind of credit to my account?? If so, how
much ??

100% credit for every day that you have degraded service. They will give you that. 0 -
I have Embarq also. I have to keep rebooting the modem. For whatever reason it keeps losing the ISP address. This has been going on for about a week or so. 0 -
They led me to believe that it was just near me.
Any other Embarq users having problems ??

Only problems I have with Embarq is the phone lines running down the road where I live. Had to call the repair man three times and he said several techs had told them the lines need replacing to no avail. If it rains hard I have problems. Also mice get into the boxes beside the road and chew the wires. 0 -
I'd fire them, but I have no alternative.

I had a problem with my cable internet about a year and a half ago. Had a guy come out to see what the problem was. The thing is, there wasn't a problem when he came out. It started about 2 days before thanksgiving, I left and come back on that Sunday. Still no good internet, guy came on Tuesday everything worked fine. However, his data he had with him showed that there was a problem during that time. He never did find a problem, but I was credited $30 for the month for really only 2 days of down internet as I was not there for several of the bad days. I didn't even ask for it. 0 -
I have Embarq and am running slow today -- just upgraded Adobe and am about to delete that to see if things pick up.
I have a problem paying them for the privilege(s) of communication from telemarketers and spammers, but seriously doubt they will work with me to remedy that particular issue. I actually have a pretty effective spam filter and when I'm in the right mood I love to torment the telemarketers, so I suppose I should just look at the excessive-to-me charges as an entertainment fee.
Asked an obviously India-based satellite salesman, yesterday, if he'd like to discuss potential service for me over a steak dinner, which did not go over very well [}:)].0 -
The only problem that I have had with Embarq are billing errors. 0
